[email protected] Au Trappiste - black beer under a creamy dark beige foam; roasted aroma of mocha, hints of vanilla; full-bodied, creamy palate, very tasty; strongly bitter; some apparent warming alcohol in a long roasted coffeish and nutty finish

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2017 On tap @ The Blind Monk. Black in the glass with a dense mocha head. Chocolate aroma and taste, smooth and balanced with a bitter after.

Tap at Taphouse. Pours a pitch black with a tan head. Classic imp. Aroma, a lot of roasted malt, coffee, a bit of chocolate and hops. Taste is almost unpleasantly bitter, that really lingers. Tastes like some of mikkellers early imperial stouts. Too bitter for my taste, at that says a lot.

On tap at TCBW 2017. Poursdark brown, almost black colour. Thin beige head. Bready, chocolaty, caramelly aroma. Chocolate, cocoa in the taste. Chocolate and cocoa in the aftertaste as well. Nice roast of the malts. Very well balanced, rather medium bodied brew.

Nice roasty aroma, plenty of fruitiness, raisins. Black, small tight brown head. Toasty taste, fairly burnt, but no astringency. Full palate, decent carbonation, keeps it pretty drinkable, additionally the alcohol is reasonably well covered, which helps. Finish is crazily bitter, but in the context of this beer, that works very well. Very good one.

tmrmwel (2274) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 20, 2017

Full body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is dark roasted malts, with liquorice, coffee and wooden barrels, as well as some coffee and leather.

Marduk (8394) - Reval, ESTONIA - MAY 12, 2017
Tap @TCBW 2017. Clear pitch black color. Medium size, brown head, stays. Malty, chocolate, sweet, woody, alcohol in aroma. Alcohol, malty, roast, chocolate, woody and sweet in taste. Massive alcohol and also roast and chocolate in aftertaste. Alcohol makes it somewhat harsh to drink. Drinkable brew.

Draft. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, bread, chocolate, and coffee. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, coffee, alcohol, and dark bitter chocolate, leading to a bitter finish.
