COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gyle 100 Series. First released in December 2015. Bottle, 330ml.

The Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrel which this porter called home for several months imbued it with the rich caramel and boozy swagger of the barrels former occupant.

Its body enriched with molasses, tobacco and spice, Gyle 100 manages to retain mellow dried fruit notes and an almost savoury dry finish to remain uncommonly balanced for a beer at this level of alcohol.

Bottle. Surprisingly on this one no gushing or any overcarbonation. Pours black, with beige head. Aroma is bourbon, roastiness, quite light sourness (maybe bourbon covered it). In taste lightly sour, roasty with bourbon and chocolate notes. Full to medium body, soft carbonation. Probably the best from baltics that went sour, quite nice in result.

Clear red brown beer, creamy beige to brown head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: pretty sourish, vinous, red wine, bit funky, some caramel, soft roast. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots and lots of dark chocolate, mocha, cocoa powder, sweet malts, caramel. Aftertaste: some tannins, bit earthy, pretty bitter.

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2016 Draft @ Tilquin English Fest 16, courtesy of and shared with the fine Belgian RB crew. Brune, col beige, blanc-cass.

Draught Quite good brownish-beige head over fully opaque reddish dark brown beer. Vanilla, Bourbon, alcohol, young oak, bit of chocolate. Bourbon, mushrooms, bit of caramelized witloof, meatroast or -gravy, hints at vanilla and oak. Well-bodied, if not really thick. Bit velvety texture, alcoholwarming. Some porter, wow!

Bottle from the brewery. Pours black with massive tan head that drops quickly. Aroma of bourbon, honey, vanilla, muscovado, very sweet smelling... Taste is sweet, lightly boozy, vanilla and sugar finish. Surprisingly light bodied, but smooth with soft carbonation. Some alcohol warmth in the lingering finish.

Keg at the brewery. Opaque dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth and slightly soft but has decent fine carbonation. Mild dark toffee on the nose. Smooth and mildly sweet bourbon integrates well in to the dark malts. Touch of vanilla. Mild spice. Semi dry finish. Bourbon spice lingers on. Nice one.

Bottle from Eebria consumed at Isobels, Eardisley, Herefordshire, Friday New Years Day 1st January 2015 Pours black with a light tan head. A little sweet oakiness (vanilla actually) on the nose, the bourbon wafts off of this. A pretty good barrel aged porter the bourbon lends a sweet edge to this, good roasty malts, woody, fruity (a bit of boozy dried fruit) some chocolate and liquorice, its pleasant stuff.
