Through time spent aging in Jim Beam oak barrels, our export strength stout - 0801 - has picked up nuances of the oak and the bourbon, lending it depth, complexity and length in the finish.

Bottle from the brewery. Been in my fridge for a while. Some of these have been hit and miss, but this is a HIT. Opaque very dark brown with a thin tan to off white head. Nose is Marmite, roasted malt, molasses, black sugar, black treacle, dark chocolate, vanilla, slight sweet Bourbon, oak wood. Taste is some soft Bourbon barrel so vanilla, little oak, sweet Bourbon whiskey, then bold roasted malt and dark chocolate, wood tannins. This is very nicely balanced between the stout and the barrel. Good effort guys.

(Rating #6300)

My Bottom Line:
Roasted malts and vanilla sweetness lead to a woodsy finish with roasty bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the browned blackness.
-Carbonation is higher than usual for the style. Kind of bothers the comforting malt profile.
-Mouthfeel is not too heavy.
-This is not really complex, but it is quite enjoyable as a dessert brew.

Black colour, beige head. Vanilla aroma, bourbon, alcohol, caramel and coffee. Flavour vanilla, cacao, roasted malts, coffee. Finish light wood, caramel, lingering roasted malts.

Clear dark black brown color with a average, creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, cacao, wood, light alcohol. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, alcohol, roasted, chocolate, dry wood. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20140808]

Backlog rating. Keg at the brewery during the birthday party. It pours a deep brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is well integrated although bourbon notes tend to dominate. Notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, wood, roasted grains, leather. Taste is quite sweet with more bourbon notes of vanialla, leather and wood, some more roasted malts and cocoa powder. Mild alcohol kick in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, quite good although still a bit hot

33cl, new exclusive English brew Anno 2014, thx alot to Tad for bringing this over!, complex Stout, roasted/malty and slightly spicy/alcoholic/fruity, yet not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, small head, good brew, yet expensive!

Beese (3337) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 15, 2014
Bottle at the Brew By Numbers Brewery on 11 Oct. Poured black, with a dense tan head. Big aroma of vanilla, dark chocolate, leather and mahogany. Roast malt flavours, with ash and some bitter hop. Medium-full mouth feel. Finish was burnt sugar, coffee and straw.

Very rich export stout. Beautifully rich depth of flavour, definitely not one to miss!
