On tap at the Brew Moon located in the Ward Center. Poured a dark brown with a small sized off white head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, and light nuts. Tastes of the same. shrubber85 (11710) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - SEP 24, 2008
Tap. Light chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown color with small head. Chocolate and charcoal malt flavor. Nice palate. Nicely made. Braudog (6907) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - OCT 4, 2003
Smoky black with a toffee-colored head. Not my cup o' tea. Reminded me of a Rauchbier rather than more traditional black lagers. JPDIPSO (6300) - Wauwatosa, USA - AUG 14, 2002
Was also called Dark Star Lager at one time. Dark chestnut with a tan unassuming head. Aroma of black malt. Flavors of bitter chocolate. A bit astringent. Quite light maouthfeel. Finishes dark malt bitter with only a touch of sweetness. BrewDad (5667) - Olympia, Washington, USA - JAN 21, 2008

Aroma – Great use of dark malts and a great amount of hops.
Appearance – Brown in color with a clear view and a nice light head.
Flavor – Deep flavor from the malts the hops added a great flavor. I got molasses and chocolates flavors also.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel with a good dry finish.
Overall – This was the best beer for this place. Had flavor, finish and overall just hit the spot and had a lot of great care to brew this beer.
UPDATED: MAR 28, 2003 Sampled at Honolulu location. Dark brown colour with tan head. Roasty coffee aroma with a slight vegetal edge. Strong coffee/mocha flavour. If I didn't know better, I'd think it was a very good porter or dry stout. PhillyBeer2112 (2924) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - DEC 2, 2000
UPDATED: JUL 28, 2003 (Sampled at King of Prussia,PA) Smooth and creamy, bordering
on flat, with a smooth head
like Guinness. Similar mouthfeel
to Guinness. Also quite bitter
and mildly roasty. Not bad but nothing
like any schwarzbier I've ever had.
More comparable to a dry stout. Weird. fordest (2469) - Santee/San Diego, California, USA - MAY 29, 2007
Draft at brewpub. Very dark pour with a decent head. Roasty aromas with a decent flavor that really profiled the Black Patent malts. Not Bad MrRomero (1976) - Nolanville, USA - JUL 8, 2004
Poured dark brown with a small tan head. Light roasted malt aroma. Light walnut flavor and lightly sour. Okay. elihapa (1554) - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - AUG 23, 2008
Brew Moon Black Hole Lager 8/20/08 (on tap, Brewpub. Pours black with tan head. Dark chocolate, hops, black coffee, and roasts in the nose. Flavor is similar to some lighter stouts I’ve had, but evident lager-qualities help avoid style confusion. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me in hindsight, but I do remember that this beer never got truly bitter, so I’ll say that the mid-palate features some sweetening malt, almost a licorice flavor. Overall, this is a solid, flavorful brew, probably tops from this brewpub.
