Was also called Dark Star Lager at one time. Dark chestnut with a tan unassuming head. Aroma of black malt. Flavors of bitter chocolate. A bit astringent. Quite light maouthfeel. Finishes dark malt bitter with only a touch of sweetness. padrefan98 (854) - (San Diego) Santee, California, USA - MAY 31, 2007
Sampled at the brewery and I believe this to be my first in style. Medium brown in color, with a surprising smell and taste of chocolate, metal, and malts. shrubber85 (11448) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - SEP 24, 2008
Tap. Light chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown color with small head. Chocolate and charcoal malt flavor. Nice palate. Nicely made. MrRomero (1976) - Nolanville, USA - JUL 8, 2004
Poured dark brown with a small tan head. Light roasted malt aroma. Light walnut flavor and lightly sour. Okay. PhillyBeer2112 (2861) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - DEC 2, 2000
UPDATED: JUL 28, 2003 (Sampled at King of Prussia,PA) Smooth and creamy, bordering
on flat, with a smooth head
like Guinness. Similar mouthfeel
to Guinness. Also quite bitter
and mildly roasty. Not bad but nothing
like any schwarzbier I've ever had.
More comparable to a dry stout. Weird.

Smoky black with a toffee-colored head. Not my cup o' tea. Reminded me of a Rauchbier rather than more traditional black lagers. ontario102 (794) - Boise, Idaho, USA - MAY 23, 2005
This beer tastes like a stout (roasted black patent taste) without the body, and like a schwarzbier without the smoothness; strange, and not much more
