COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ist nachtschwarz, intensiv und bleibt lange präsent. Fängt mit Kaffe an, ruhig, zäh, dann schokoladig. Es wird flüssiger. Es ist eindrucksvoll, überraschend. Schleicht sich nicht an, ist einfach da!

Bottle @ WWT. Black pour, thick tan head. Aroma is sweaty, roasty, soy sauce and chocolate. Flavor is salty roasted malts, bitter and harsh. Quite invasive and too salt.

Bottle from Stanislaus Brewskovitch, Zwolle. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee grounds, chocolate, tart dark fruits, a bit vinous. Flavour is tart and moderate to medium sour with a little sweetness. Body is medium. It would help to know if this was intended to be sour. As it stands, I kind of liked it.

Achetée à Berlin. Bière noire avec une belle mousse beige. Nez de café et acidulé. En bouche elle est douce et goût de café. Acidulée en arrière bouche. Très bonne bière...

Bottle at home, 15th December 16. BBE 20th September 2016, God knows, how long I’ve kept this for or where in Germany I bought it! Pours black, some bubbles and a crack on opening, it’s carbonated, but not messy. Aroma is liquorice, sour vinous notes, dark fruit. Taste is liquorice, dark chocolate, sour vinous, not sure if this was the intention, but it works, delicious, light palate, faded hops, sweet and bitter linger. Good surprise.

bottle. Deep, really deep, deep black, with a small beige head. Malty start with lots of coffee and dark bitter chocolate, shy hoppy finish.

Aftertaste is dry nad bitter, light tart with hint of alcohol. Film body, oily texture, light carbonation.

Many thanks to McTapps! The beer starts deep and dark. Viscous, hints of plums, slightly sourish. Very nice with a dry and malty body. Hints of burned bread, moderate bitterness, dark cherries. Intense, viscous. Coffee, Roasted dark chocolate but still a bit rough. Probably due to the quite dry body. Intense and long dark roasted chocolate aftertaste. Nice!

Maker: Brew Baker, Berlin, Germany *** Beer: Berliner Nacht (bottled, 330ml) *** Style: Imperial Stout *** ALC.VOL.: 9.0% *** "Pitch-black, intense and lasting. Starts out with coffee notes, slowly, then switches to chocoloate. Impressive, surprising. It won’t creep on you from behind, it’s just there." [brewery note, my translation] *** Colour: Pitch-black, indeed. Huge, fluffy, lasting brown head. *** Nose: Lots of dark chocolate and vanillin, mild coffee. *** Texture: Full-bodied, a bit oily, moderate carbonation (thus, not extremely oily). *** Taste: Dark chocolate and coffee beans together at the outset, nice coffee bitterness complementing the chocolate sweet note. Espresso bitterness even stronger towards the middle, with mildly sweetish cocoa in the background. Finish still much the same mix, slightly sour now. Aftertaste coffee, very much dominated by roasted malts. Wee sweetness remains. *** Impressions: Absolutely excellent Imperial Stout that manages to hide its 9% ABV behind strong and interesting malt flavours. A must for lovers of this style!
