The Twist: This beer has been aged in whisky casks with raisins soaked in Ballast Point Rum (they were amazing!)

spacecube (1717) - Leeds, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - APR 14, 2013
330 ml bottle, 11.9% version whisky cask aged. Pours deep brown / black, low carbonation, Chocolate / Coffee in the aroma, with a scotch whisky backbone. The scotch is fine, and balances well with the sweetness of the malts. A damn fine drink.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a murky, opaque brown with an off-white head. Thick caramel and nuts in the nose. Rich body, again extremely thick and malty with a whisky touch. A little ashy. Warming alcohol finish. 060413

Pith (160) - New York, USA - APR 5, 2013
Pours opaque coffee brown with 3 finger dark frothy cream head. Aroma of wood, spicy cinnamon and cloves? Some packaged raisin fruitiness. Taste immediately sweet but very quickly goes to a whisky sting then rolls into fermented raisin with tones with tones of rum sweetness. Finishes with a raisin tang that leaves a fermented earthy fruit feeling on the back of the tongue. The differences in aroma and taste lends a complexity that is smooth and delicious.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. ABV 11.9 %. Clear dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit and alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish with warming alcohol. 050413

Foffern (1879) - Bodø, NORWAY - MAR 26, 2013
Bottle shared with Veitafan and ClubGonzo. The colour is cloudy brown with a small light brown head. Has a powerful and sweet aroma of oak, alcohol, hops, vanilla and toffee. Nice and complex. The flavour has a lot of oak and sweet malt, and leather. Complex and is pretty impacted by the barrel aging. Feels a bit like creme brulee. Has a slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A complex and decent ale, and the barrel aging comes really through.

ClubGonzo (5670) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 19, 2013
Bottle, shared with Foffern and Veitafan. Pours a deep hazy copper-hued bronze body with a small beige head. Nose is strong boozy whisky and raisin notes, brown sugar, vanilla, red fruits and hints of herbs. Assertive and nice. Taste is burnt sugar, vanilla, brown sugar, raisins, ashes, alcohol, hints of caramel and straw. Loads of woody dryness in the finish. Full body, soft carbonation. A strong, but relatively pleasant scotch ale variant.

15-MAR-2013, bottle @Sonni, @Ulkløbben tasting. Dark dark amber with tan head. Aroma is wonderfull with malt, bread, alcohol, dried fruit, raisins, plum, rum. Taste more messy. Rum - too much rum, cardboard, raisins, malt, sharp alcohol. Strange brew. A mess. Is this sick? Aroma was so promising...
