COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A fury of dots and dashes come trough the receiver. The translator turns in amazement. "A Zero IBU IPA by two breweries separated by sea?" His commanding officer lays a grizzled hand on his shoulder as his eyes narrow toward the horizon. "No bastard ever won a war by playing it safe, son."
The International Arms Race is a new type of battle collaboration between hardcore American craft brewery Flying Dog and BrewDog.
’Zero IBU IPA’ is an ale brewed with berries and herbs.
2 IPAs that rock.
Hunt them both down and see which beer you think deserves to win the battle and the war.

rarbring (2295) - Linköping, SWEDEN - DEC 16, 2012
Aroma: Smelling of sweet bread with nuts, fruits, apple, soicy, ginger, horse radish and green hay.
Appearance: A clear deep amber colored beer. A high off-white head with small lacing and some curtains.
Taste: Tasting hether honey porridge, pear and mint marmalade and generally fruity and spicy.
Palate: Medium carbonation, a soft and oily texture. A big body with a slightly dry finish.
Overall: Rather interesting, spicy and warm without any hop feeling. Could be a good base for "glögg" (glühwein).
Note: Bottle 330 ml. Reviewed 2012-12-16.

33cl bottle from cervezalandia. Copper amber color. Thin white head. Low to medium bitterness. Ginger, pepperish, spicy aroma.

Bottle. Amber colour with an off-white head. Has a bit of herbal, spicy aroma. So far so good. Having tasted the Flying Dog version I didn’t have much hopes for this and it didn’t live up to it. Flavour can’t really be described. Couldn’t keep it down long enough to distinguish the subtle nuances of bad this has. This is just awful.

Jeez the beer. Smelling something weird and strange. Tastes not so good but after a while, still a little good taste. The aftertaste is boring and is not as long.

aroma is malty sweet alcoholic berrylike. appearance dark orange white foam which dissappears quickly. this isn’t bad and the aroma is really interesting but overall mediocre.

Bottle. Dark amber to copper, white head. Aroma: very sweet and filled with spices. Taste: sweet maltiness, honey, spices, cloves and others associated with Christmas, but can’t identify them all. Medium bodied. Not very successful.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2017 Aroma and flavour have plenty of bay leaf, ginger and clove. Clean aftertaste. Not my style.

Bottle. Light amber, hazy, small to average and fully diminishing head. Moderate and sweetish aroma, herbal spiciness (ginger), berry fruitiness. Body is average and sweetish flavor with herbal spiciness, berry fruitiness. Finish is average and sweetish, lots of Xmas spiciness. Spiciness + beer = no not work for me.

Shared bottle. Pours pale golden with a white head. The herb aroma hits the nose at once. The same goes for flavor. A heavy focus on sage in this beer. An interesting beer to try out, and now i’m satisfied...

Clear amber colour with a crispy head that sank down, but was much more durable than the FlyingDog version. Aroma with something similar to hops. Also malt, some rosted caramell, herbs and something perfume-like. Taste of malt, berries, herbs, some spices (but no strong flavours), some caramell sweetness and some hints of alcohol. Some small kind of bitterness is apparent. Fruity and easy to drink. OK body (maybe a little watery but still OK). The "winner" according to me.
