A fury of dots and dashes come trough the receiver. The translator turns in amazement. "A Zero IBU IPA by two breweries separated by sea?" His commanding officer lays a grizzled hand on his shoulder as his eyes narrow toward the horizon. "No bastard ever won a war by playing it safe, son."
The International Arms Race is a new type of battle collaboration between hardcore American craft brewery Flying Dog and BrewDog.
’Zero IBU IPA’ is an ale brewed with berries and herbs.

Dazz3 (1798) - Hallsberg, SWEDEN - NOV 10, 2012
Bottled. Pours copper with a small white head. Smells hoppy, parfume and candy malt. Tastes acid, abit candy malt, abit herby hoppy with a similar finish.

Pyrmir (6197) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - NOV 7, 2012
330 ml bottle. Aroma rich in rosemary and laurels. Reminded more of food than beer. Tastes _very_ herby, almost like glühwein with a beer base. Not very good thou. They achieved good bitterness without hops.

tkrjukoff (4335) - SWEDEN - NOV 4, 2012
Bottle 33 cl, SB. Pours clear pale mahogany with a shortlived tanned head. Aroma is weak sweet berrymalty and fruity. Flavor is sweet malty caramel berry fruity slightly buitter. Finishes short with a sweet berry aftertaste. Not my cup of tea I’m afraid.

Quack-Duck (9487) - Down South, GERMANY - NOV 4, 2012
bottle from Bierzwerg, tasted next to Flying Dog’s International Arms Race. Deep golden, large and creamy off-white head. Lovely spicy and herbal aroma. Full-bodied yet the alcohol is quite far in the background, malty base but not too sweet, plus lots of spices that add a christmassy touch. Interesting, not bad at all!

jolo (1003) - Uppsala, Sweden, SOUTH AFRICA - NOV 2, 2012
Bottle 33cl. A clear amber colour with a small tanned head. An aroma of malt, caramel, medicine and some spices. The taste is heavy sweet and light sour. A light body with an oily texture.

Balazs (787) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - NOV 2, 2012
On tap/bottle, Csakajosor, Budapest. Poured clear amber with a medium pillowy head that slowly went to a small lacing white one. Freaky aroma with juniper and herbs, laurel, rosemary, pine, dead fallen leaves. Medium sweet flavor with pine again, juniper, herbs. Yes, this is not an IPA but very interesting, good one!

Palme (4816) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 2, 2012
0.33l bottle from Bierkoning. This is a near-clear chestnut-orange colored one with a small light bubbly sidesticking white top. It smells sweet and spicy. Ginger, sticky caramel and something fruity. The herbal/spicy ginger dominates. Hmm.. Strange flavors. Not bad or anything, but definitely odd. It’s soft prickling on the carbonation with a light oily mouthfeel. More ginger in the taste, and that dominates here as well. I also get heather, burned sage and some honey. A bit sweet perhaps with lot’s of malty sweetness. A bit "wild" and really herbal, but surprisingly drinkable. 13.10.2012

Pours dark amber with almost no white head. Aroma of herbs and alot of orange and grape fruit peel. Like how it smells when you have cut a grape fruit in half. Particles that looks like orange fruit meat. Taste is about the same as the aroma. Low bitterness with alot of orange in the finish. Completely different from Brewdogs version. Of some reason I find this more interesting than Brewdogs, mostly because this has less herbs. Ok, but i expected something more special!

deyholla (12031) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 31, 2012
On tap at Rake with Sarah. Pours a clear chestnut with no head. Aroma has notes of resin and berries with a hint of sweet grain and booze. Reminded me a bit of cough syrup. Flavor starts with sweet grain and fruits and has a bit of bitter pine towards the finish.

zimbo (970) - SCOTLAND - OCT 29, 2012
Confected soda pop nose. some Christmas spice. Orange colour, very fizzy with fast diminishing head. spice on tongue with a sickly sweet body.
