A fury of dots and dashes come trough the receiver. The translator turns in amazement. "A Zero IBU IPA by two breweries separated by sea?" His commanding officer lays a grizzled hand on his shoulder as his eyes narrow toward the horizon. "No bastard ever won a war by playing it safe, son."
The International Arms Race is a new type of battle collaboration between hardcore American craft brewery Flying Dog and BrewDog.
Zero IBU IPA is an ale brewed with berries and herbs.

330ml bottle from Vinmonopolet bestillingsutvalget. Diminishing off-white head to a bright, golden-brown body. Dotted lacing. The aromas are reminiscence of dough with spicy herbs, ginger and clove (pepperkakedeig). Ginger, bread and raisin to the taste buds. Sweet and dry endnotes. Masked alcohol. Flat in the mouth. Alright as a kind of soft drink, but I wont buy it again (Troms, 27.07.2013).

Bottle, OP. Body is orange with debris and no foam. Aroma is spicy, little bit sour. Taste is orange fruits, fruits, floral, honey, herbs such as elderflower, juniper. Light bitterness, probably from the herbs. Interesting beer. Body is medium, oily, with light carbonation.

Pours deep orange almost red orange with head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is sweet floral but medicinal almost. Some sediment in bottle. Taste on initial sip was full of carbonation but this reduces. The beer is a strange one that almost tastes like a sweet dry white wine. It is very dry and bitter on the palate. This is an IPA thats missing some balance and it is odd. Still there is something I like about it which I cannot put my finger on.

apparentemente forse non lo ... naso di erbe, un po liquirizia, un po di carrubba e poi boh... non sono per riuscito a berla. Avrei voluto dare di pi per la sperimentalit, ma... non riesco... mi ha dato la nausea!!

33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Vika. Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Herbal aroma with ginger, caramel and something that reminds me of common wormwood. Quite sweet and flavoursome, but a bit strange. Certainly a bit different, but Im not entirely convinced. Quite decent brew, but nothing I feel an urge to drink again.

17.06.2013. 0,33l Bottle. Vinmonopolet Bergen Storsenter. Golden colour with white head. Aroma of berries and herbs. Lots of herds and other spycy flavours. Mild malty body. Strange bitterness. Its dry and bitter but its not hops. Good flavours of hearb, but I cant determine what herbs it is. At the end its more like wood or spruce with flavours of some kind af tree or resin acids. Dry tounge. Interresting beer.

bottle. Amber with small head. Gruit style with lots of herbs. Rosemary stands out slightly. Very unique, but I preferred the Flying Dog version.
