Bottle. Orange amber color. Red berries and twigs in the aroma. Red berries, wood and twigs in the spicy flavor. Mint. Limited bitterness. Interesting experiment. Abio (1869) - BERMUDA - MAR 15, 2013
Comparing the two beers like it should be probably be. Thy both smell heavily herbal. The black label even unpleasant. But at the taste the flying dog is slightly favorite. But both are not my kind of beer for sure. The_Osprey (7881) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 14, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 18, 2013 Oct 2012 - bottle. No hops, replaced with herbs and roots etc. Sweet, sasparilla, tastes like incense smells. Slight apple juice taste. Gives me a tickly throat. Doesn’t taste like beer. Isn’t very nice really. nick76 (4399) - Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 13, 2013
The aroma is sweet and reminds me of my grandparents basement (some grandparents right) with malt, fruit, herbs, and grass. The appearance is hazy copper with a smallish head. The taste is like the aroma with dry finish. The palate is unremarkable. The beer overall is drinkable but not great. Aniela (4216) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAR 13, 2013
Bottle. Dark amber beer with a small not lasting offwhite head. Spicy and floral aroma and flavour.

Clear amber beer, irregular off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: some caramel, hay, bit nutty, sugary, some alcohol, disinfectant. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit spicy, herbal, cardamom, bit sweet, grains. Aftertaste: little sweet, caramel, lots of spices, cardamom, bit sourish. Flying Dog: you lose, Brewdog: you "win", but it’s more of a pity cup you get. Neither of these beers are very good.
Bottle. Pours a deep orange body with a small off-white head. Nose is boozy grass tones, resin, rummy malts and hints of grains. Taste is slightly herbal papery tones, sherry, hints of grape peel and berries. Medium body, soft carbonation. A bit strange and OK, but not more. Not much to the BrewDog effort in this "battle"; the Flying Dog version was absolutely superior and I really don’t get the low ratings it gets. suprchunk (2994) - Crestview, Florida, USA - MAR 10, 2013
Clear amber colored pour. No carbonation. No head. No lacing. Big heather aroma. I thought I mistakenly poured a Williams Bros. Heather Ale. Taste is slightly sweet with a huge heather flavor. Some astringency. Better than the other side’s offering. That’s for sure. arone12 (929) - Maryland, USA - MAR 9, 2013
Pours a dark orange color with a spicy orange peel aroma. I like this version more than the flying dog version. Flavors blend better.
