Bottle from I think it was West Lakeview Liqours in Chicago. Pours a dark brown with a light orange/brown head ring. Nose is sweet maltiness with raisins and some vanilla barrel character. Tastes very sweet with some fruity, a little bitter and is a little hot. Really fucking tasty. It’s been in my cellar since 2011? I can’t remember. Wish I had more. The nose is delicious, featuring Scotch whisky, malt, prunes, dark berries and fruit jam. Dense murky dark brown colour suits the style. A well balanced taste profile leads with some booze, prunes, brown sugar, toffee and tropical fruit. Some oak as well as fruity hops create some edge on a rich sweet beer.

Bottle with bottled on date of 2/15/11. Rich caramel malt aroma with notes of smoke and whiskey. Pours dark caramel brown colored with and very short-lived white head with nonexistent lacing. Starts with a lot of sweet caramel and some dark fruit. Finishes very smooth with lots of peaty smoke and a bit a whiskey and only the smallest hint if the booziness. Excellent barleywine. kyr2 (32) - Nicosia, CYPRUS - OCT 10, 2014
Amazingly smooth for such a high vol beer. Has a taste of whiskey about it and a woody aftertaste. Excellent choice!

Also notes of malts and oak. Also notes of ripe fruits. Long, lingering aftertaste. Stuu666 (14044) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 17, 2014
Bottle at Craig’s tasting. Piney, bitter, dry, bit harsh, too sweet, needs longer in the bottle. zimbo (970) - SCOTLAND - APR 26, 2014
Light pale nose. More active than its sister beer. Some syrup. Tamer and nice but could do with more definition and individuality. allmyvinyl (10823) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 26, 2014
330ml bottle, cheers Craig. Pours hazy reddish brown, no head. Aromas are sherry and Christmas cake. Taste is more of the same, light boozy whisky note. Much smoother than the earlier version, nice.
