Bottle from my brother for my birthday! Pours utterly black with a tiny amount of foam which disappeared rather quickly. Thick oily appearance.
Aroma: A load of coffee. Dark malts, liquorice, a bit of booze, spicy, some black pepper, a bit minty, hints of hops
Flavour: very thick oily mouthfeel. This beer is an explosion of flavours on so many fronts, it’s hard to process it all. The complexity is unmatched in my opinion. Dark malts are intense and the beer is rather sweet. There’s a huge amount of coffee and other roast flavours. The bitterness is intense but also very interesting, the hops is noticeable and accompanies the malt flavour perfectly, giving an earthy and herbal edge. Finish is sweetish and not too dry. Wow, an unbelievably complex imp stout. From a cellar temp bottle, I’m getting tobacco, vanilla and barrel influence. The taste is full of creamy coffee , but is amazingly drinkable for its abv. Superb.

Bottle shared at home in Richmond, as ’BrewDog / Nøgne Ø / Mikkeller Black Tokyo* Horizon’. Opaque black with a small foamy brown head. Aroma is molasses, chocolate, vanilla, lightly floral. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is coffee, lavender, alcohol, dry and salty. Quite a nice meld of big sweet malts and salty floral tang. Bottle shared at Daniels place. 20/02/2016. Huge thanks to Daniel for this one. Pitch black viscous pour with a lasting dark tan head. Aroma is salty, rich dark choc, hot alcohol, jammy fruits, Palate is full and creamy, velvety, Flavour is composed of sweet, dark malts, , jammy fruits, maple syrup, Very smooth, for thew abv. Bottle shared during the inaugural Richmond tasting - big thanks to Daniel! Pours deep black-brown with a creamy, tan head.torched wood in the nose, some sweet chocolate, scorched earth. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with hearty brownies, baking cocoa, strong roast, more scorched earth. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish, sticky sweet, with lots of sugary chocolate, moderate booze, dark fruits, raisins. Great stuff overall. Bottle, shared at the Earth Eagle. This does justice to all three of its constituent parts -- it’s huge, dark, roasty, almost syrupy, and it packs a mighty punch. Impressively, though, it’s blended together well and it stands as a really good beastly stout in its own right.
