In collaboration with the awesome Oskar Blues from Colorado, we’ve created this big, twisted 10.5% American style barley wine. With big boozy aromas that’ll swirl round your nostrils and a sweet viscosity that’ll cover your tongue from top to tip, this is a beer for people who enjoy nonsense and walking on tightropes. Even when the Circus packs up and leaves, you’re left with a lingering warmth and bitterness playing in your month. - See more at: http://www.brewdog.com/product/shipwrecker-circus#sthash.e9vrs12U.dpuf
Malts: Extra Pale, Munich, Crystal, Chocolate

Rudat1992 (11) - Dortmund, GERMANY - NOV 18, 2014
Reddish brown color and a medium cappuccino head. Fruity inserted plums in rum and sherry aroma, it also leaves a touch of coffee taste. Very good barley wine beer.

RaijinSen (493) - POLAND - NOV 14, 2014
UPDATED: DEC 1, 2015 Pours deep mahogany with medium sized head. Citrus notes in the aroma appear at the beggining but fade quickly, overriden by caramel, toffe and, alas, alcohol. Caramel, plump and raisin are dominant in the taste of the beer, accompanied by strong alcohol notes that tend to linger on the palate. Only the last sips of the beer bring some relief from the alcoholic profile, or maybe I just had enough of them and stopped to pay any attention. It seems that barley wine isn’t my cup of... beer. Too astringent, to heavy, close to wine or caramel liqueur- that’s not my definition of beer. On the other hand, I have no problem with alcohol in baltic porters or imperial stouts so perhaps it is the beer that is not representative and simply badly balanced. Anyway, with my notes I tried to be subjectively objective, or obectively subjective (please delete as appropriate).

Geiserich (4595) - Linz, AUSTRIA - NOV 13, 2014
Bottle: Aroma is malty, yeasty and fruity. Molasses and dried fruits with pine notes. Reddish to dark brown color, brownish head. Flavor is malty, medium sweet with caramel and toffee notes, light alcoholic. Fruity with plums, dried fruits, also dark chocolate, sweets. Good balanced with a herbal hop bitterness.

inbirraveritas (1611) - Budapest, HUNGARY - NOV 11, 2014
Draught. Reddish dark brown colour, small and lasting yellowish head. Liqueurique nose. Intensive aroma ruled by molasses and dried fruits combined with pine and alcohol, mouthfeel is oily. Long and warming, earthy-toasty-grapefruity finish.

gegwilson (3793) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - NOV 9, 2014
Bottle from Rehill’s of Jesmond. Pours deep ruby with a tan head. Lovely fruity aroma. Rich taste with lots of boozy fruit, sherry, liquorice and spice followed by a lingering bitter finish. Really full bodied. Extremely good.

Brenhophead (695) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 4, 2014
330mL bottle. Pours a deep marhogarny with a milk chocolate head and a massive fruity/spice, toffee apple like aroma. A massive toffee like sweetness as it hit the palate with lots a resinous pine to follow and a bitter finish.

Tmoney99 (14952) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 3, 2014
Tap sample. Poured clear reddish brown color with a moderate frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate malt and small hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a complex solid beer.

33cl bottle @ home from Csak a Jó Sör, Budapest. Body is clear, deep ruby-brow, Head is medium, creamy, brownish, mostly lasting, excellent lacing. Nose is dried fruits, alcohol, citrus, Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, mild coffee, Taste is medium to heavy sweet, medium roasty bitter, light alcohol sour. Finish is chocolate, dried frits, roasty bitter-sweet, hoppy, heavy alcohol in my throat. Full body, sticky texture, soft carbonation. Heavy dessert beer, slightly imperial stout-ish, full aroma, alcohol is present but not that disturbing.
