UPDATED: NOV 27, 2016 It’s gone quite prune and plummy, goofy esters now. The bullish Belgian vibes throughout aren’t quite as grounded with bitterness, warped gassiness and a light liquorice dark tart edge. Smooth and light creaminess - a long ranging busy finish, brassy un-bitter and dirty clove linger. allmyvinyl (11019) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 12, 2014

Bottle at Craig’s. Shit the bed, never seen this before. Didn’t think I ever would. Cheers birthday boy! Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of wood, light chocolate. Taste is massive chocolate hit, light coffee roast. Medium body, roasted bitter finish. Stuu666 (14841) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 12, 2014

Bottle from Corvallis Brew Supply, Corvallis. Pours a jet black, small amount of tan head. Aroma subtle, coffee, yeast, resin, chocolate. Yeah, it’s a four year old IPA, so not much expected there. Body thin and slack, but finish is brilliant, a really nice interplay between yeast, malt and hops, very little bitterness and even at that, along the lines of anise or some similar herb, with a full rich mouthfeel. Imagine this would’ve been a bit more impressive fresh, but still worth a flyer. CpyNPrnT (640) - Indiana, USA - MAR 3, 2014
Jet black pour. beautiful looking beer, average taste. Some roasted malt, not much besides that. Bottle from 2010 though, perhaps some oxidation, but the beer itself would be much higher if hops were more pronounced. hotstuff (5258) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - FEB 9, 2014
Rated on 4-22-2010 (Bottle - Batch 409) This beer pours a medium fizzy tan head that mostly diminishes, opaque dark brown body, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, citrus hops, and a hint of pine. The taste is bitter, roasted malt, chocolate, and moderately hoppy. The palate is smooth and this beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, this beer has a pleasant hop balance, worth trying, and a beer I would drink again. jh773 (311) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 25, 2014
Pours an impressive jet black. Smells like bread, citrus, a little sour. Tastes a little watery and sour, hints of toast. My girlfriend says it reminds her of soy sauce, which I agree with just a little bit. Like a cross between a weak IPA and a stout but not very impressive either way.
