Bottled. A very dark red-brown beer with a nice, but collapsing brown head. The aroma alcohol, berries, roastes malt, and a bit of iodine. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of roasted malt as well as medium notes of cocoa beans, wood, iodine, and alcohol, leading to a dry roasted finish. joergen (29216) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 27, 2009

Rubyish black colour, small brown head. Aroma is grass, fruits, roast and also some mild notes of earth. Flavour is grass, fruits, some floral notes as well as mild berries. Also some smoked notes lurking in the background.
Slightly cloudy deep copper color with a wafer thin light tan head and a decent amount of lacing. Aroma of Chivas Regal, hints of scotch and oak. Flavor begins with almond and hints of chocolate, a slight edge of hoppy bitterness, and then finishes much more on the sour side. Interesting and complex. cgarvieuk (25987) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 26, 2009

Cask at Stockholm Beer Festival. Cloudy very dark brown. Licorice aroma. Mid-sweet with clean, rounded mouthfeel and medium body. Tarry licorice aroma - not much Belgian style about this Black Belgian Double IPA. Smoky, tarry and concetrated. Salty finish with San Diego style bitterness. Crazy BrewDog stuff as ever. madmitch76 (25568) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 2, 2012

Clear and very dark red - brown beer. A little hop on the nose. Softish palate. Dark and bitter chocolate. Repressed but spicy hops. Some fruit, but well buried. A little off the beaten track.
