Clear medium amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy peat. From tap. Pours clear and golden orange to brown with a small tan head. Aroma is smoked, dense malty and tarish. Bitter, dark malty and roasted. Caramelish sweet and dense smoked.

Bottled. A nut brown beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of phenol, burnt malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of burnt malt, caramel, alcohol, citrusy hops, and phenols, leading to a dry burnt phenolic finish. I find it flawed.

joergen (28108) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 4, 2011
Draught at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011. Clear red brown coloured with a medium sized beige head. Fruity aroma of caramel, hops and peat. Fruity flavour of hops, peat, grass and whisky. Hoppy finish.

Draft @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011. Pours an amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty weak smoky aroma with hints of caramel. Sweetish malty smoky caramel and dark fruit flavor. Has a sweetish malty smoky dark fruit finish.

[email protected] BF 2011. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is leather, slightly alcoholic, mild islay peat and some slight hoppyness. Flavour is leathery, alcoholic, heavily peated with also some sweet maltyness and fruits.

omhper (25113) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAY 29, 2011
Draught at Ølfestival København 2011. Hazy nut brown, small head. Smoky fruity nose. Sweet with clean, rounded mouthfeel. The hard barren malt prevents further exploration of the flavours. Some caramel, lot of smoke, mildly peppery alcohol burn in the finish. Rather messy.

Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 27, 2011
On tap. Clear amber with a creamy off-white head. Heavy iodine aroma. Solid body, rough and unrefined with heavy smoke, tar and iodine. Very bitter and boozy finish. In your face brutal. 270511

Cloudy brown beer, good light tan head. Light softish palate. Sweet malt with an obvious aniseed alcohol. Some sugary sweetness comes through at the end. A whisper of smoke from the Laphroig malt possibly. Any Nelson Sauvin is pretty surpressed. A mad beer, love the concept but the end result is a bit clunky. I would love to age one of these!

Couple of half pints at the Rake. Abv now reported as 10%? Watered down? A couple of months have done this beer a lot of good. Clear dark brown beer, short lived pale tan head. Soft palate. Mild smoke from the Laphroig malt is immediately obvious bit delivered in a nice soft creamy way. Lots going on here, a little aniseed, whisper of sherbet fruit. Sweet caramel with a trace of bubblegum. Something like cornflakes makes a brief appearance in the mid. Still finding new things before the beer finished. But again no obvious Nelson. Still a mad beer but a much better tasting one now!

Bottle courtesy of tderoeck, thank you sir! Clear amber color. Aroma of iodine. Taste is pure whisky.
