BrewDog Vs Weihenstephan India Pale Weizen kicks off a new direction for our collaborations. We took a simple concept (by our standards) and teamed up with the oldest brewery in the world to brew a mash-up beer using the signature styles of both breweries.
India Pale Weizen has classic base hefeweizen aromas and flavours of banana and clove, with distinctive haziness. Layered on top of this is a tapestry of US citrus hop character. India Pale Weizen is a perfect symbiosis of traditional and modern brewing.
Malts: Extra Pale, Wheat, Munich
Hops: Centennial, Simcoe
Twist: Traditional weizen hopped like an IPA

Beerclubsa (147) - Strand, SOUTH AFRICA - NOV 8, 2016
340ml from Roeland. Pours a cloudy orange/yellow with long lasting densely packed head with excellent lacing. Aromas of bananas, melon, clove, wheat, apple and spicy yeast character. Palate has high carbonation and light body. Flavor of citrus and wheat with a medium low hop bitterness. Refreshing and delicious.

[backlog] 05-05-15 / bottle at Hostel in Sydney, Australia. Unfortunately without proper glassware. Stil a nice beer. Hefeweizen base, with yeasty aroma, some banana. It gets overloadad by a nice hop aroma with citrus grapefruit notes. I started rating my beers with Untappd and a few basic notes. Now I want to rate them on ratebeer. So my rating sometimes lack some information. Just ignore it, it is for my personal statistics. Untappd-Rating 3.75/5

Bottle at Brew Beers and Ciders, Sukhumvit, Bangkok. Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is yeast, citrus, light grain, banana, grassy hops. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a citrus, yeast, medicinal floral hop palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Too floral. The hop combo does not work for me.

On tap at BD57, july 19th 2015. Hazy yellow body with a fine white head. Aroma of banana and clove esters, mild citrus hops, herbs and resin. Taste is sweet and creamy with a late bitterness that cleans it up a bit, fruity with wheat. A nice Hefe/ipa blend, though the styles work better on their own in my opinion.

didierlewallon (291) - ponferrada, SPAIN - MAY 2, 2016
Cerveza de color amarillo oro con una buena cabeza blanca espumosa. Aroma a malta, lúpulo, cítricos y levadura. Sabor afrutado con bastante amargor, con una sensación en la boca seca, muy fácil de beber. Cerveza muy refrescante.

WhatDaddy (96) - Volos, GREECE - FEB 7, 2016
0,33lt bottle @ Valentin - Curious Bierkneipe, Volos, Greece High hype makes it more disappointing for a collab beer from BrewDog and Weihenstephan. Neither true aromas of an IPA or a Hefeweizen, same goes for the taste. Something like bread and earthy. As a beer and a style Weizen IPA not a good one.

pivnizub (10906) - Bochum, GERMANY - DEC 24, 2015
Flasche: Golden, hazy, loose but stable lacy white head; distinctive orangey, floral and wheaty nose, some well hidden yeast underneath; medium bodied, soft MF, solid bitter-sweet flavour; lingering finish - orangey-fruity in the beginning, later drier and more bitter and a bit tart. Gut gemacht…

Idiosynkrasie (8199) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - DEC 21, 2015
330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, orangey golden colour with huge, frothy, mostly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Wheaty, fruity hoppy, and fruity yeasty aroma, notes of banana, mandarine and orange overtones. Taste is moderately sweet wheaty, fruity yeasty, notes of banana and papaya, banana leaves, a good deal of hop bitterness, hints of orange and banana; lasting bitter hoppy finish. No hints of yeasty spiciness (undecidable if varnished or inexistent) - works rather well, though.

Interesting combination between IPA and hefeweizen. Surprisingly good as this seemed to be an unlikely marriage.
