COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
5am Saint is The Holy Grail of red ales. We live in a world of disposable deities. Someone, somehow has managed to press that big, flashing moronic override button and were hard wired straight into the pockets of false idols trying to make a quick buck. Sadly, for a lot of people the same mentality applies to beer. But whos to know whats worth worshiping when monolithic advertising budgets have you sucked down the rabbit hole in the blink of an eye? At BrewDog we are on a mission to open as many peoples eyes as possible. Cast away any aspersions and let the crook of BrewDog be your guide in a whirlwind of conformity and mediocrity. Once this ruby liquid forms a foamy halo around your glass, youll never want to look back.
Malts: Maris Otter, Caramalt, Munich Malt, Crystal and Dark Crystal Malts
Hops:Cascade, Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Ahtanum, Centennial
Twist: Loads of late hops and bucket-loads of dry hops

33 cl bottle @ home, from Geers Oostakker; orange coloured with medium head; medium carbo; smell is exotic fruits, wood, hoppy; taste is wood, little dryness, medium bitterness, hoppy. Interesting and quite nice, but the aroma is more pronounced than the taste.

Absolutamente recomendable.

20170507 HOME; 33 cl bottle; BB 30/07/17. A clear amber coloured beer with a brown good & fine foam layer. Aroma is somewhat sweet & caramel with some citrus-like hops. Taste is what sweet, malty and caramel. This stays. And a citrus-like hop bitter is coming above this. Reasonable bitter which becomes light dry. Also some tropical fruit. Body is medium-full. Overall a somewhat sweet beer with a nice hop bitter aftertaste with some fruit.

Aroma - quite a bit heavy, with dried and wet leaves, lot of caramelized malt, caramel, caramelized fruits jam, dark honey, some earthy hop notes. Taste - hops with earthy notes, wed and dried leaves, partly rotten herbs, goes then with caramelized malt, caramel, some fruits jam and dark honey, a bit of bitterness. Not bad, but quite a bit heavy.

2016 catch up - Bottles at home from borthday present case - A nice beer that was pleasant to sip. Very smooth with both malt and hops coming through nicely. The mouthfeel was the key to this and I have to say the malt was very well done for Brewdog who tend to be hop obsessed.

Bottle from Tesco, Imperial Wharf. Good amber. A little too watery for my taste.
