COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer is an 11.5% Imperial Brown Ale which we have aged in amazing Spanish sweet red barrels from Malaga. Stewart Bowman, our Head Brewer, devised an Imperial Brown Ale designed to perfectly complement the wine flavours and extract maximum depth and character from the giant barrels. We also felt the Imperial Brown Ale was ideally suited to be barrel aged and as well as the infusion of the Malaga wine character will also benefit added complexity and maturity from the time in oak.

gyllenbock (9841) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 31, 2014
Bottle bought at Systembolaget in September 2012. Almost black with a small head. Sweet with raisin, chocolate, malt, oak and some red wine. Potent with warming alcohol. A pleasant one to sip.

@ Eddan 14-8-30: ganska söt doft. Tydlig smak av russin och alkohol. Fin fyllighet med en något tung eftersmak. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!

Bottle. Pours deep chestnut brown with a small, bubbly, off-white film head. Aroma has hazelnuts, red wine, chocolate, cherries, toasted caramel, softly vinious. Low carbonation, fine dry and quite oily mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of hazelnuts, grapes, oak, vinious, raisins. Lingering, warming finish. Very interesting.

From corked bottle at home, couple of months back. Aroma of red berries, dry vinous notes, toffee, dark fruit, savoury. Murky reddish brown with floaters, no head. Sweet layers of malt and berry fruit, sweet red wine notes, light acidity, dried fruit. Port, wood, dryness, some booze. Full, soft carb. Very enjoyable, aged nicely. Glad I kept it.

Dark pour small head. Aroma and taste of anise, turkish delight, fig, raisin. Smoky, lower carb. Unique and probably at its peak. Still some heat.

Beese (3209) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 17, 2014
Bottle at BrewDog, Camden on 16 Dec 2012. Poured a hazy, deep brown, with a dense beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, rich berries and earthy notes. Dark fruit flavours, black cherries, damson, prunes and liquorice. Finish turns to a perfect balance of toffee, berries, dark malt and some warming alcohol.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2015 Color is dark brown. Forms a small head that disappears completely. Smell is quite nice: sweet, roasted malt, caramel and also some fruits. Taste hits you sweet right away. Resembles a 20 year old wine I had once. Complex, sweet and fruity. Alcohol is present but not overwhelming. Body feels medium and crisp. Carbonation is low but present. Not bad at all but I’m not that much into sweet beers.

Bottle to pint glass Aroma of plum, soy, port, brown sugar, fudge, and wood. Dark amberish brown with a thin tan head. Taste is brown sugar, port, candy floss, cigarette ash, roasted malt, hazelnut, chocolate and ending with pure vanilla. I expected it to be too sweet, but it was pleasant, and not overbearing or cloying. Very well done.

Poured from a corked 375mL bottle [bottle 4162 of 9987 bottled on 20/06/12]. Murky dark brown with minimal tan head. Aroma of plum, molasses, alcohol, wood, and caramel (reminds me of a low-hop barley wine). Taste similar with the wine characteristics coming through and very subtle chocolate. No carbonation. Light-medium body.

SuperTiti33 (893) - Aylmer, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 22, 2014
Brune très foncé presque noire. Presqu'aucun collet. Café. Très caramélisé. Vanille. Noisette. Banane. Réglisse. Fine amertume de torréfaction. Liquoreuse avec une légère chaleur d'alcool. Excellente.
