COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer is an 11.5% Imperial Brown Ale which we have aged in amazing Spanish sweet red barrels from Malaga. Stewart Bowman, our Head Brewer, devised an Imperial Brown Ale designed to perfectly complement the wine flavours and extract maximum depth and character from the giant barrels. We also felt the Imperial Brown Ale was ideally suited to be barrel aged and as well as the infusion of the Malaga wine character will also benefit added complexity and maturity from the time in oak.

Dark brown, red. Small tight head that congregates quickly around the edge of glass. Aroma is plum, brown sugar, booze. Med to heavy body, raisins, caramelized brown sugar, hot and boozy finish that creeps back up your throat. Red licorice and cough medicine.

_angst_ (5008) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 5, 2014
Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours hazy goldenish dark brown with a very small bubbly goldenish beige head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, malty and fruity with caramel, moist wood, hay, alcohol, toffee, sweet red desert wine, sweet dark bread and moist soil. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and fruity with caramel, sweet dark bread, sweet red desert wine, hay, moist wood, toffee, red berry fudge, moist soil and alcohol. Mouthfeel is sticky sweet, round, tiny astringent, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter, malty and fruity with caramel, biscuits, hay, moist soil, moist wood, dark grapes, raisins and hints of cocoa powder. Very sweet but yet very nice. I had lower expectations than this I must confess.

Jepp, det här var bra, riktigt bra. Smaken var fint balanserad med toner av choklad, jäst, dov fruktighet och lite syra. Balansen satt på sin plats och det gjorde även kroppen.

375ml bottle shared with jeevan. Pours very dark brown, thin tan head. Juicy red wine aromas, wood and marzipan. Really intriguing. Taste balances things out between sweet, bitter and booze. Port-like towards the end. Very nice.

At the first Kinki Beer Tasting, bottle 3273 of 9987. My second favorite of the four, this imperial brown/barleywine was the best balanced of the bunch. It poured a reddish-brown almost cola-ish pour. The aroma had a touch of booze but was mostly malty sweet, caramel & raisin. The medium-light body was malty sweet goodness, not too complex but incredibly solid.
