AB:11 is an imperial black barley wine brewed with ginger, black raspberries and chipotle peppers. A 12.8% rollercoaster of ginger zestiness, chipotle smokiness all bound together with dark berry tartness and the decadent residual body of a black barley wine.

Medium head .Smells more ginger than i tastes. I was looking forward to a beer with some spicy ginger notes, but I was let down on the first sip. Still, after a while, this becomes a pretty good beer. Dark, spicy and heavy barley wine with a hint of citrus fruits.

Har varit jätte uppspelt över denna ölen. Haft den ett tag och gått och sneglat på den varje dag. Söt, alkohol och rätt tjock.

Uhlen (251) - Trondheim, NORWAY - FEB 8, 2013
Dark brown liquid with a small white head. Aroma is roasty and caramelly. Taste is alot of ginger, and not much else. Feels like I am in a sushibar. Worst abstrakt so far in my opinion. (Tried 6-11)

My first abstrakt. Pours a dark brown colour with a white head. funky aroma of ginger, malts, spruce and some roastedness. Flavour is really interesting; ginger is really present, maybe a bit too much, there is a quiet notable leather and licorice taste, together with wet grass, coffee and dough. A bit too thin on the palate in my opinion, which really supprised me. Low carbonation, and a smooth mouthfeel. It really changes character when it warms up a bit, much more round taste and better balance. I did know this was a hate/love beer. For me it was hate at first, but that slowly went over to the other side after some sips.

This is my 3rd abstrakt, 07 and 12 were my first and second in 2012 and 2013. I don’t get the hype about these beers. They tasted nothing special. Rather not good, really hard to drink. Dark black color, medium carbonation, nice bitterness, dark chocolate and coffee aromas. Strong alcohol aftertaste, which is not my beer style. It will take long to drink this beer

Bottle @ NK Saluhall. Black colour with a tan head. Sweet malt, pine, floral aroma. Flavour is... well not good. Tried to give it away but no luck.

Simply the best beer I’ve tasted. Incredible, but not overwhelming dark ginger flavours!

BoBoChamp (5755) - Gent, BELGIUM - JAN 21, 2013
38cl, Bottle 4941/9819, new exclusive Scottish brew Anno 2012, with ginger, chili pepers and black raspberries, from Saveur Bière Lille, very complex brew, sweet/spicy and slightly alcoholic/roasted, not too heavy, balanced, hazy, good head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

Alecwallace (155) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - JAN 20, 2013
I was a little hesitant about the chipotle smoke as i worried it would dominate however...what a well balanced beer. The beer pours black with a quick to vanish, caramel head. The aroma is giner biscuit, and far eastern food. The taste is dry, sweet, fragrant and ginger. Its a warming beer that hides its abv well. I think its not the sort of beer to drink frequently but isnt that the point of the Abstrakt series?
