Appearance: Opaque black color with a small beige head. Some lacing.
Aroma: Sweet fruity and dark malt.
Palate: Medium body. Slightly sweet and a bit spicy. Creamy carbonation. Hoppy tail.
Taste: A bit sweet and fruity. Lovely juniper notes. Hoppy touch in the end.
Overall impression: Lovely barley wine. But not something I could drink a lot of. Lovely by the fire in the evening.

Bottle #236 of 9819:
Pours black with a mid sized head. Aroma is licorice and loads of pickled ginger. Flavour is dominated by pickled ginger. The chipotle shows up late and create a burning feeling on the lips.

11 jan 3013, bottle. Black. Nose is wet oak, faint red fruit, faint peppers. Thin/med body and almost flat. Really unique flavor. Spicy ginger. It is faintly spicy ad moderately ginger, along with dark slightly bitter chocolate. Not as big, bold, or aggressive as most Abstrakts but it is unique and interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

375 ml bottle shared by arminjewell (thanks Armin!) poured a clear reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of chipotles, carmel, toffee, smoke and citrus. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of smoke, dark fruit, leather, roastiness, licorice and chipotles with a smooth dry lingering spicy fruity finish.

Pour out of 375 mL bottle, thanks James! Thick black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of big ginger, plum, caramel, roast, coffee, chocolate, hints of berry, cherry, hints of slight pepper but pretty hidden, molasses, wow this is complex and crazy. Taste is a mix of coffee, ginger, chocolate, roast, hints of berry, touch of grain, hints of earth, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter, dry, with a hint of roast. Wow, interesting, but good.

Bottle @ Ratmans house. Thanks Armin! Pours a brown appearance with a brown head. Ginger, light citrusy, somewhat spicy, light caramel nose. Tangy ginger, caramel, light toffee, very spicy, somewhat citrusy flavor. Fairly smooth but not my favorite flavor.

Botella. Black colour. Sweet aroma of roasty malt and some alcohol with ginger to it. Good mouthfeel. Sweet flavour of roasty like maltiness with caramel, some (dark) fruit and ginger too, some alcohol.

375mL bottle, pours nearly black with a small tan head. Aroma of ginger upfront, followed by chipotle peppers, a subtle hint of raspberries, but no typical barley wine notes. Flavour is extremely bizarre, with prominent ginger notes upfront, blurred with raspberries and some mild peppers, all with more typical barley wine notes: sweet caramel, candied sugar and some dark fruits. The spices somehow work in here, though its not the most complex or elegant barley wine. Interesting experiment.

Bottle, thank you Comin and Kendra - and shared with Colin! Pitch black, small foamy head. Alcohol , dark fruit, ginger aroma. Taste is very good - dark fruit, ginger, lots of alcohol, a bit of molasses. Thick. Complex and very good, what a treat!
