A salt caramel popcorn imperial ale. Bourbon and rum barrel aged, this 12.8% ale has complex and twisting flavours. Bitter caramel, wood, smoke, spice, treacle and vanilla are all present and intertwine against a smooth and lightly chewy mouthfeel. The salt caramel popcorn lends subtle hints of a smoky brininess.

Idiosynkrasie (8220) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - OCT 9, 2017
375ml bottle [#2295/8250]. Darkest brown colour, no head. Sweet-ish aroma has notes of caramel, vanilla, treacle, a touch of oak. Taste is moderately sweet, malty, notes of caramel, malt lozenge, vanilla, treacle, a nuttily and minimally salty touch; well hidden alcohol. Viscous, oily texture, soft and slightly sticky palate, flat carbonation.

nimbleprop (8949) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - OCT 1, 2017
Quick RB taste at CBC Clerkenwell. 375ml bottle pours an oily black with a ring of white head. Nose has motor oil, industrial notes, smoke, malt, licorice, dark bread. Flavor has cherry, heavy with port, a little tobacco. Flavor is a bit washed out though. Finishes oily.

Bottled at AndySnow tasting. Clear mahogany colour, no head. Aroma of vanilla and caramel. Very sweet with medium-full body and rounded, sticky mouthfeel. Treacle, honey, rum and white pepper. Low bitterness. A sweet mess.

GlasgowTAD (2007) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - JAN 24, 2017
Bottle at Craigs. Pours deep burgundy with no head. Aroma is weak spices. Taste is caramel sweet, slight saltiness, spices, rum.

murran (702) - - JAN 13, 2017
Pours a dark brown body with a purple hint and no head or carbonation. This one probably had too much time on a shelf. Aroma is dominated by barrel tones. Taste is rich and complex, full of rum flavours, fruits and malty sugars.

Theydon_Bois (21516) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - JUL 28, 2016
Bottle at home, 28/07/16, bottle #2089/8250. Extremely dark mahogany brown with little in the way of a covering. Nose is dark fruit rinds, light spice, brown sugar, toffee, red berry fruits, light boost tuneage. Taste comprises sweet malts, spice, caramel, red berry esters, toasted brown sugar, light molasses, subtle barrel, light bourbon streak. Full body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a sweet closure and rising alchol level. Ok ... a little boosty and perhaps past its best some 30 months post bottling. Had worse but would not rush back for this juan.

danlo (3366) - Darlington, Durham, ENGLAND - JUL 16, 2016
375ml bottle from Brewdog online store. Bottle 2385 of 8250. Dark brown-black colour, no head and aroma of molasses, wood, popcorn, vanilla, bourbon & rum boozy. Taste is sweet, rich, roast malt, molasses, toffee & caramel, bourbon, warming, some spice, with salty, oak and vanilla hints. Silky smooth mouthfeel, medium to full bodied, soft carbonation, dry & sweet salt caramel finish. Nicely sippable.

OminouSC2 (974) - Mora, SWEDEN - JUL 4, 2016
Sweet, complex aroma. Caramel, syrup, raisins?, coconut? I can’t really put my finger on it. Taste is horrible. Sweet and salty caramel, just a mess. Really not for me.
