COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AB21 IS A LIQUORICE AND BLACKCURRANT INFUSED IMPERIAL STOUT. ROLLING IN AT AN IMPOSING 12% ABV, THIS HUGE AND DECADENT DARK BEER DIALS DOWN THE CHARRED ROASTINESS AND FOCUSES INSTEAD ON THE RICH, FULL-BODIED CHOCOLATE AND DARK FRUIT CHARACTER OF THE STYLE.

THE ADDITION OF BLACKCURRANT ENHANCES THE DARK FRUIT ASPECT OF OUR LATEST CONCEPT BEER, WHILE THE LIQUORICE BRINGS FLAVOURS OF ANISEED AND TREACLE. A BRANDY-LIKE WARMTH REPLACES ROAST MALT AS THE BACKBONE OF THIS COMPLEX BREW.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2017 On tap at Carwyn Cellars. Pours black with a ruby hue. Aniseed, blackcurrant, chocolate, cherry, blueberry, more smooth chocolate. Strong liquorice, but with a nice sweet fruitiness to balance and plenty of stout in the background. Not full of subtlety, but full of flavour.

Bottle. Breaking open a wax seal always feels pretty special. The colour is deep brown, almost black with ruby hints. Thin dark brown head. Nose is cough drops, ribena blackcurrants. Fishermans friends. Taste is heavy! A massive pow of whisky-like alcohol burn. A lot of dark roast notes. Charcoal. It makes my spit go thick. Blackcurrant. Salt Licorice. Some vanilla notes. Blackcurrant is there but hard to dig out. There’s aniseed. A stickiness on the lips. A complex sipping ale, but not an altogether pleasant one for my particular tastes.

Vom Fass Stone Brewing Berlin 2016-10 getrunken. Ist das Kümmel oder Sternanis? Nein Lakritze und ohne heftige Bitterkeit. Der Alkohol ist sehr gut eingebunden. Ein sehr gutes Stout.
