COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An imperial stout brewed with cacao and coffee, AB:22 has spent two years in darkness, drawing complex and indulgent flavour from the Speyside whisky casks in which it has resided: chocolate ganache, cold-brew coffee, vanilla pods, molasses, chocolate-covered raisin, fudge sundae, espresso martini, toasted coconut… this is one of our most intense and decadent barrel aged stouts, ever.

Bottled 375ml (from BD)
Opaque colour, small brown head. Sticky roasted coffee aroma with whiskey. Full-bodied. Toasted malty, vanilla (fudge), whiskey and cacao in the flavour. Sweetish, hides alcohol quite well. Nice BA stout.

Gluepot (758) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 15, 2018
UPDATED: JAN 16, 2018 A low, incredibly dark tan head on a near black body. Head dissipates quickly. A gnarly dark nose with tanned leather, roasted malt, whiskey, licorice, dark berries and a touch of coconut. Abstrakt dark arts at their best. The taste is typically layered, intense and dark. Raisins, dark chocolate, fudge cake, leather, dark berries, whiskey and a touch of coconut. that hint of sourness takes it to another level. Not quite as rich and dense as anticipated, but solidly mid range. Bamalam.

Had this once on tap, now bottle form the Brewdog shop. Pours extremely black, I think it's the darkest beer I've seen with definitely the darkest head I have ever encountered on a beer. Medium head retention. Aroma is incredibly rich and complex. Rich dark malts, which give a malty sweet and somewhat caramelly aroma. Coffee and chocolate, with rich espresso notes. Very nice berry/dark fruit aroma too, raisins, plums, also vinous. Whisky and oak is also very noticeable. Overall complex but well balanced. Big body with an oily and thick mouthfeel. Flavour is just as amazing as aroma promises. Dense, deep and complex, with a big malty body. Some caramel sweetness, with dry cocoa and lots of sweet coffee. Dark fruit and berries once again, licorice. Whisky and oak are very noticeable and give the beer a perfect edge, whilst mellowing down the overall sweetness and supplying just a tad of fire and spice. Very very well balanced. Finishes long with lots of coffee, sweet and boozy, with a nice whisky heat. Absolutely amazing beer. Best Abstrakt I have had and I think Brewdog's best barrel-aged imperial stout, overall one of the best in the category I have tried. Perfect.

350th Beer Rating!

1 finger dark brown head. Opaque, black beer.

Aroma is tons of chocolate, toffee, whisky, oak, vanilla, coffee hints, burnt sugar, light sweet liquorice, coconut, hazelnuts and some dried dark fruit hints.

Taste is dark roast coffee, milk chocolate, toffee, slight nuttiness, vanilla and a big whisky cask note.

Mouthfeel is thick, oily and sticky. Gives off really lactose-y vibes. Smooth as hell too. Medium-low cacao bitterness. Low carbonation. Only complaint here is that the bitterness is too low along with a rather short aftertaste.

Overall: Great Impy. Taste was a tad bit too sweet but had a nice roasty balance to counter it out. The big whisky flavours in this were really tasty but perhaps they mellowed the other flavours out a bit much. There was something else lacking aswell, but I can't really explain it. I guess it just wasn't beastly enough as a whole but that doesn't take away the fact that this beer was absolutely delicious and I made the right choice opening this as my 350th beer review!

On tap at Fakin Zagreb. Pitch black, small brown head, wood, chocolate and whiff of cherries in the nose. Roasted malt, wood, barrel, dark chocolate, licorice and touch of cherries and alcohol with heavy notes of wood in the finish. Decent brew.

sweet, dried fruits, fruits in chocolate, sometimes alcohol gets through </br> black, dark black. pours with dark cocoa-head, short. cocoa, a bit of coffee, quite sweet, but countered by (mentioned) cocoa, in the end some spicy notes. quite dense, pleasant, little bit to much alcohol (it's not really high for 12.5% though, just is a bit annoying) quite good piece of beer, complex and definitely not boring.

37.5 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruits, coffee, and a little whiskey - with a bitter finish.
