2013 Prototype Challenge
A recipe we originally devised to celebrate opening BrewDog Brixton in the city that gave birth to the Porter style. Unfortunately the deal for the site fell through at the last minute, but we still wanted to make the beer. Brixton Porter is a delightfully decadent yet eminently drinkable dark beer.
Malts – Extra pale, Dark crystal, Roast barley, black
Hops – Victoria’s Secret, Bramling Cross, Challenger

Another awesome Ale from the ever reliable Brew Dog, flavours of a much bigger Porter with only 5.0%

Poured into a mug, the appearance was an almost black color, dark brown mostly with a thin finger’s worth of white foamy head that dies off at a decent pace. Semi-thick rings of white foamy lace. The aroma takes on roasty black coffee beans and grounds pulling in some light black licorice, roasty tones of sweet cocoa bean and then a light butterscotch. The flavor boldly brings together all of those previously mentioned aromas together. Sweet with roast and a nice playful spice. Slow riding blended dark spicy to sweet cocoa aftertaste rolling into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Smoothness seems there but the spice from the black licorice seems to kick against the carbonation. Even the carbonation feels good but somewhat soft. Overall, very nicely done porter that I would love to have again.

Bottle 0,33L. Very dark brown, almost black color with small, light brown, frothy head. Gentle aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. Taste is light bitter from start to the end with a touch of coffee and chocolate. Medium to full body, watery texture and soft carbonation. Lighter, drinkable porter. As Brewdog said: A porter for the new generation.
