Drank 28-3 @Majid the night before going to Struise. Very balanced, but also rum. Really liked this one. 77ships (10771) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - APR 2, 2017
Thank you Philippe! 330 ml. bottle split by 3. Obv. 2012 Vintage. Black with almost zero head. Nose is very sweet in a gravy, soy sauce fashion, quite boozy,.... No signs of oxidation here amazingly. It is bit too umami for me & lacks all complexity, it improves when you let it stand a bit & open up, getting some chocolate noes, very sweet, candy, umami, gravy, barrel treatment is seemingly all alcohol & no barrel character (that might be just the ABV of the base beer & not even the rum), finish is overly harsh boozy, feels boozier than even 15 % ABV, plastic, harsh,... Body is plastic soy sauce. Decent when i warms up a bit, very crued alcoholic umami brew. Others loved but I liked it quite a bit less. Alengrin (5629) - BELGIUM - JAN 10, 2017
At BrewDog Brussels, vintage bottle from 2012 apparently. Bubbly, moussy, kind of loose, pale beige and quickly dissolving head, black robe with hazy burgundy edges. Strong bouquet of bitter chocolate, coffee liqueur, dried plum, hazelnut, old dry cardamom and star aniseed, mocha ice cream, vanilla, cayenne pepper, whisky, madera. Sweet onset, fig and raisin, some black olive-like umami traces and deeper sourishness, thick and oily body, softly carbonated, deep nutty and chocolatey maltiness, very pleasantly bittersweet, bit caramelly with spicy notes built on top, leading to a spicy finish where the aromatic spices are accompanied by alcohol warmth - if not heat - and lovely drying wood tannins. A totally different world from the old Belgian Christmas beers I grew up with, that much is clear, aged wonderfully.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Aged for around 4 years. Inky black with a quickly disappearing thick tan head of foam. It has a very rich spicy red fruit, rum, whisky and chocolate flavour followed by an extremely warming roasted, spicy rum finish. Good but too boozy. Bottled. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, wood and rum. Sweet flavor that ends up being more dry with a little bitterness. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice Impy. 🎄🎄🎄🎄 kerenmk (5028) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - DEC 22, 2016
