COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A re-worked Alice Porter especially for Christmas. With orange zest, cacao and a tiny bit of chilli.

The perfect beer for Turkey, The Queen’s Speech, boring relativies and boozed up Pictionary.

Merry Christmas.

Keg at Brew Dog Camden (Dec ’11). Pours very dark brown to black in colour with a finger or so’s head. Aroma - was that of malt, slightly burnt but not greatly so, toffee/chocolate, herbs. Flavour - Slightly smoked/burnt, spiced taste with some herb flavouring, less chocolatey than in the smell. Didn’t enjoy the mouthfeel - a bit too thin.

Pours black with a begie head. Typical flavors and aroma for the style. Brewdog can do better.

(Bottle). Spicy and slightly tart fragrance with notes of figs, raisins, roasted malt and chocolate. The taste is quite thin, watery and slightly metallic with flavors of roasted malt, chocolate and spices. The aftertaste has a very light bitterness with a vaguely warm hue of chili. Not a bad beer, but a clear disappointment on the grounds that it is brewed by BrewDog. I was expecting me more!

Aroma: Chocolate, charcuterie, licorice, chili, a slight hint of ash and soy-sauce. Quite thin body, with little carbonation. Semi-long ending with some bitterness.

johndoughty (5438) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUN 17, 2012
Bottle. Dark brown with a small head.Slightly spicey but not as complex as some of their beers. Nearly but not quite. Still worth trying though.

Bibendum (117) - ITALY - MAY 26, 2012

TheCellarer (32) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAY 21, 2012
330 ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Sentrum Tromsø shared by Rune at Beer session XVIII 030112. Very christmassy bottle design in typical Brew Dog style. Almost black body with beige head and dotted lacing. Aroma at first resembles the well known and well liked one typical of Brew Dog beers with an added Xmas twist but sharp hints of yeast conspire to weaken the intended cocoa impression. Flavour does not match aroma well and is metallic and almost blood-like as well as more sour than bitter even if there are some hints of spices and roasted malts. Feels dry but watered like wetted paper in the mouth. Especially dissappointing considering the normal standard of the brewer.

JohnRMurdoch (4863) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - MAY 17, 2012
Bottle from Appellation Wines. Treacle coffee malt aroma. Very dark brown colour, reasonable head. Chocolate coffee malt flavour. Smooth with bitter sweet aftertaste.
