(BrewDog Dog A ) Bottle 3330 ml at home, served into a taster, ABV 15.1% vintage 2012. Many thanks to Cuso for sending me this!
Pitch black colour on the body, one finger of thick, dark brown head on top, with good retention.
Aroma of roasted malts, dark bitter chocolate, coffee, alcohol, dark fruits, plums.
Taste is sweet, with alcohol, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, plums, spirits, liquorice.
Thick bod with soft carbonation and very sticky on the palate.
Great beer. SaintMatty (7410) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - JUL 25, 2016
330ml Bottle (Dog A) - Jet black with a tan head. Liquorice and plain chocolate dominate the aroma. Roasted malt, fudge, coffee and liquorice can all be detected along with a hint of vanilla and some spicy notes. OminouSC2 (731) - Mora, SWEDEN - JUL 4, 2016
Tasted both Dog A and Dog B. Black, minimal head. Really nice aroma! Chili, roasted malt, coffee, cacao, a hint of vanilla. I was afraid the chili would be too strong since I’ve had some bad experiences with that, but with this one it just added depth. A well balanced, sweet, thick taste with a hint of chili just in the back of the mouth. Finish is slightly bitter, long and warming. One of my all time favorites! ark matter into your glass, with a deep tan head. On the nose there’s a subtle but powerful blend of dark chocolate, espresso, chilli spice and molasses, boosted with hints of molasses, cocoa powder and brandy. On the palate, there’s a chewy treacle toffee backbone, supporting the spicy hop flavour and naga chilli heat. The malt bill adds further spice from the rye, and a smooth refined mouthfeel from the wheat and oats.

Bottle from Brewdog Brussels. Pours dark brown with a modest tan head and a chocolate and vanilla aroma. There is a full-bodied complex flavor that includes chocolate, coffee, dark molasses, vanilla and chili pepper. It all goes together really well producing a very nice sipping beer. bhensonb (15338) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 6, 2016
Bottle as Dog C shared by Marcus. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma of chili, vanilla and coffee. Like a weird barista creation. Med ++ body. Flavor is vanilla, chocolate, arguably coffee, and definitely chili. Not really dry and not really bitter. Kind of like chewing a chili flavored dark chocolate bar. Heat is not an issue. A bottle of Dog B brought back to Oz by a friend. At cellar temperature and into a Brewdog tulip. Used engine oil with good legs is the body. Head is expectedly missing from a beer of such strength. Nose has hints of roggenbrot, pumpernickel, molasses, Marmite™ and yeasty Vegemite™, blood, rusty metal and damp lumber. Melty, melty, liquid gold viscosity and big body. A veritable yet complex ganache of chocolate on the palate. The aroma plays heavy as far as flavour. Rusty, bloody, tannic, woody, smoke ridden withe ample umami offering meaty, reduced napolitana notes. Really lingers. The alcohol adds plenty of warmth. Tarrish and viscous. An odd honeycomb note builds as if sucking on the sugary sweet. So much malt. Chocolate, wood, tar, mollasses, roasted coffee bean, but little of that chilli - a wasted addition!? Straightforward but highly drinkable for its strength. I did like it a lot, so surprised at that! MrTipple (5288) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 13, 2016
(Batch 142, bottled 17/06/13, 33cL)
Aroma: dark chocolate, cacao, pralines, sweet coffee, vanilla, dark malts, chillies. Appearance: black, no head. Taste: medium sweet. Palate: quite some alcohol, intense dark chocolate, sticky texture, strong roasted malts, chillies, but not too strong, yet a very mild after-burn. Overall: beautiful Imperial Stout, well-rounded, very smooth despite the high ABV. Bottle from Independent Spirit, Bath. MelvinKalksma (1574) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 24, 2016
