Brewed with ten different types of malt, and blended together with Scottish heather honey, it is a pantheon to the gods of intricacy and nuance; a beer that celebrates a confluence of ideas. History is written by the victors, and Dogma is Scotch Ale triumphant; evolved.
Complex, indulgent and encapsulating, Dogma gives more than a cursory nod to history, to make you ponder the very nature of beer itself.

Bottled. Deep ambery brown colour, close to black, with a mediumsized beige fluffy head. Aroma is roasted malts, mild leathery and honeyish notes as well as some berries. Flavour is coffee, chocolate, some bitter floral and fruitiness as well as some honey and mildly leathery notes. Quite a bunch of things in it, but still the result is a quite nice and balanced brew.

On tap. Pours black and opaque with a small beige head. Nose has loads of prune and a little licorice. Quite full-bodied, again pruney dried fruit with the licorice note geting even more pronounced. Hardly any bitterness. Very pleasant and Old Aleish. 170512

Opaque dark brown beer with a tidy tan head. Palate is crisp and dry. Minerally dark malt with a strong coffee and marmite streak. Trace of sweet fruit underneath. Minerally fresh and tangy, Okay but something of a retrograde step for this beer methinks.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen
Black color, with creamy brownish head. Aroma of mildly roasted malts, but also a note of fruity sourness; it gets breadish when warmer. Flavor of roasted malts, not too ashy and burnt, also because of a quite solid residual sweetness; but also a strong liquorice presence, that is less than appreciated (black candy liquorice); the final is weaker with the flavors; ordinary bitterness level.
Not bad, but quite dull.
