3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask in The Rake. Alround rating: Toffee and biscuity malt, grassy very bitter hop the veriety that is unmistakably brewdog, the finish is just fairly quick and bitter. Not sure whats going on in this beer, its a fairly standard bitter, not sure why its been made?
Bottle. Pours copper with a slightly tan head. Aroma is malty with some hops. I smell caramel, flowers and grapefruit. Medium body, feels a little bit flat, quite abrupt. Quite bland actually, not particularly bitter or sweet. I taste grapefruit predominantly. Very mainstream. Riddesummer (4) - - NOV 21, 2015 does not count
I thought it would be more rebellious.
But fine IPA with a splendid fruity aroma.
Crisp. Fresh. But not wild in any case.

Good solid stuff but nothing to write home about. Pours with a nice white head. Good lacing. Tropical fruit and piney aromas but there were a bit too subtle. Flavor, bitter but not balanced with enough freshness for my taste. Got a mittle heavy towards the end. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 27, 2010
A Mes rate. Cask at the Rake.wyzzywyz22 (2752) - Wirral, Merseyside, ENGLAND - FEB 3, 2010
Rich amber colour with a good off white head. Big floral and grassy hop snout. Faintly chemical but I can deal with it. Similar flavour with some pleasant bready malt underneath. Big lengthy bitter finish with a late earthy development. A little straight forward but bloody good all the same.
Cask, Pivo, York. Copper colour with a medium sized off white head. Aroma had some grassy hop and sweet malt in evidence as did the flavour which was lighly sweet. Dry bitter finish. Pretty tasty for the strength I suppose, but far from Brew Dogs finest moment. If you’re going to brew a beer to try and entice people to buy shares in your company, why not make it a bit better ???!!

Cask carry-out from Bacchanalia, Cambridge. Poured bright copper with a ring of white head; sweet, resinous, piney, hop aroma; oily in texture but rather thin; the flavour starts with sweet, fruity, resinous hops, then becomes sweeter with some grapefruit, before the bittering hops kick in, to give a dry herbal finish with just a hint of butterscotch. An awesome beer for such a low ABV - why can’t over UK brewers do this? ladnewton (2039) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 30, 2009
Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 30th December 2009. Amber with off white head. Intensely bitter and hoppy with exquisite grassiness and hemp notes. . Citric grapefruit aromas. Zingy mouthfeel and a dry, solidly bitter finish. Superb. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - DEC 24, 2009

Hop aroma. White head. Copper coloured a little rich on the palate and fruity with a hint of dryness in a crisp and bitter malt finish. cgarvieuk (25992) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 22, 2009
Cask at Cloisters ... Copper ... thin tan head ... sweet fruity hop nose ... sweet toffee malts ... bitter dry hop linger ... little hop resins ... quite fruity ... i know nothing exciting but a decent bitter Beeronaut (176) - Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - DEC 19, 2009
Good little beer, and unexpected in many ways. Pours rusty brown/red with a tawny look to it, lovely Autmun/Winter russet tones. Bubbly head which fades quickly. Aroma is pretty good for the abv. Lots of pine, earth and resin mixed with freshness, sort of cut grass, maybe some damp straw, and a definite mineral feel. Flavour is where this beer is at, for 3.7% it has an abundance of depth not normally felt in beers of this percentage. Starts very resinous and instantly bittter on the tip of the tongue with some nettles, earth and dried fruits, then there’s some light relief from toffee, perhaps caramel, treacle, then back to biting hops, grassy notes in the finish back with pine and mineral, something peppery and almost smokey, also a tad metallic. All in all I score this beer quite highly, for a session bitter it rocks the flavometer and packs a punch which I always think is an achievement in beers of this abv. A beer I could quaff for a while quite happily.
