single hop simcoe IPA
This Christmas, wish for a green Christmas. Where flurries of hop flakes blanket the world like you’ve never seen it before. And crunching through crisp, sparkling drifts releases billows of pineapple, citrus and papaya with every step. The reign of the snow angel is over. Long live the hop angel where parks and playgrounds become adorned with the outlines of celestial beings that fell to Earth from angry looking emerald clouds. Tune in to breakfast TV to find life’s on hold for 24 hours as this ’hop day’ demands you rocket down a hill on the back of a baking tray. Or simply raise a glass of this festive IPA as we wish you a very hoppy Christmas.

Very very decent ipa. Loads of hoppy tropical notes and some some citrus. Nice malt backbone as well.

Bottle. Stemmed pilsner glass. Big hoppy aroma with a mix of pine and citrus. Amber colour - quite clear, not as clear as others - but couldn’t call it cloudy. Average head that stuck around for a little while but not too long. Taste was big yet balanced. High alcohol at 7.2% but couldn’t really tell. Some bitterness due to the hops but again balanced so you were left with a pleasant aftertaste. Good beer, maybe even a great beer.

Moebbels (804) - FINLAND - DEC 2, 2015
A clear orange body with a miniscule white head. Nose has resin, caramel, citrus fruits and hay. Taste is swert with a smooth bitter finish, somewhat cloying. Low carbonation and heavy palate. Pretty simple with muted hop notes, a bit of a disappointment. From tap at Brewdog Hensinki.

bergstaden (3026) - Røros, NORWAY - DEC 1, 2015
Golden with a white head - Nice hoppy aroma that has citrus and some hints of pine in it - Malt body to support a hop flavour that has citrus pine and a good bitterness - The bitterness from the hops goes into the finish with some citrus and fruity tones - This was good

Tap. Pours a clear orange with a medium off white head. Aroma is amazing and full of citrus hops with pineapple and grapefruit coming through. It has a nice bitter sweet flavour with more pineapple and malts coming through.

Small, fizzy, off white, fully diminishing head, fair lacing. Sparkling, light orange body. Moderate malty aroma, with notes of cookie and cereal. Heavy hoppy aroma, with notes of flowers, pine, resin, grapefruit and lemon. Light yeasty aroma. Notes of peach. Moderate sweet, moderate bitter and light acidic initial flavor. Average, moderate sweet, moderate bitter and moderate acidic finish. Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Light alcoholic, moderate astringent finish.
