single hop simcoe IPA
This Christmas, wish for a green Christmas. Where flurries of hop flakes blanket the world like you’ve never seen it before. And crunching through crisp, sparkling drifts releases billows of pineapple, citrus and papaya with every step. The reign of the snow angel is over. Long live the hop angel where parks and playgrounds become adorned with the outlines of celestial beings that fell to Earth from angry looking emerald clouds. Tune in to breakfast TV to find life’s on hold for 24 hours as this ’hop day’ demands you rocket down a hill on the back of a baking tray. Or simply raise a glass of this festive IPA as we wish you a very hoppy Christmas.

Medium, just off-white head, over hazy yellow-orange beer. Oxydized hops, dull spices, rosewater. Oxydation, grainy; sweet grapefruit, if that makes any sense. Rather well-bodied, quite slick, well-carbonated. Aftertaste has sweet cookies, sweet dough. Strange - somehow totally different from what I might have expected.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a mid-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Fruity and slightly floral hoppy aroma with notes of citrus, grapefruit and tangerine. Moderately bitter and delicately sweet flavour, medium bodied with a crisp carbonation. Dry-ed malt-character with a tinge of cough syrup and loads of hops, including fruity and exotic accents, also a lighter resiny touch; dry fruity and resiny hoppy finish with a mildly malty backbone in the aftertaste. Very more-ish brew. 19.I.14

Thx! 330 ml. bottle sampled @ “Nog-een-half-jaar-tot-de-volgende-EBT”. Blond Christmas beers seem to be all the rage / the hip thing to do these days. Orange, little white head. Nose is sweetish sticky pine resin, peel, touch caramel malts. Taste is touch metallic, bitter orange, tad caramel base. Med. Body. Okay. Bottled on 01/10/2014.

Bottle. Low and quickly disappearing white fluffy head. Clear amber body. Peach kiwi powerful and lovely aroma. Peach dominated flavor with grapefruit notes combined with a nice dry hops bitterness that stays long in the finish. High carbonation.

Tap at Brewdog Camden. Poured a clear medium amber with a thin white head and some broken lace. The aroma is nettle hop with a little wood. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with a watery light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Tastes like a lighter clone of the Interstellar.

On tap at Man in the Moon, January 2014. Labeled as Voodoo Doll. Amber/golden with a white head. Nothing special with this one. Grapefruit, malt, pine and toffee. Also notes of earth. The finish was bitter.
