single hop simcoe IPA
This Christmas, wish for a green Christmas. Where flurries of hop flakes blanket the world like you’ve never seen it before. And crunching through crisp, sparkling drifts releases billows of pineapple, citrus and papaya with every step. The reign of the snow angel is over. Long live the hop angel where parks and playgrounds become adorned with the outlines of celestial beings that fell to Earth from angry looking emerald clouds. Tune in to breakfast TV to find life’s on hold for 24 hours as this ’hop day’ demands you rocket down a hill on the back of a baking tray. Or simply raise a glass of this festive IPA as we wish you a very hoppy Christmas.

Svesse (8601) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - DEC 16, 2013
(Draught at BrewDog Stockholm, 6 Dec 2013, as "Voodoo Doll") Golden amber colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with grainy malt, toast, apricots and orange peel. Malty, fruity taste with notes of toast, grainy malt, apricots, citrus peel and a generous floral bitterness. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. More tropical than Christmasy in my opinion, but fresh and tasty. Nice one.

Draught (6.8%) @ Olutexpo 2013
Aroma is fruity and fresh with hops, some resiny tones and mango. Flavour has lots of resiny notes, some caramel, exotic fruits, minerals and dstant woody notes. Refreshing and nice, the minerals and wood do distiurb a bit though. Also this gets some harshly bitter and vegetable notes at the end of the glass.

33 cl bottle (7,5%) @ home. Batch #320, BBE 11.10.2013
Aroma has gooseberry bush, some pine needles, exotic fruits and hints of resin. Flavour is rather hoppy with gooseberry bush, some biscuits, grapefruit and hints of caramel. Nothing to do with christmas but a good ipa anyway.

12 pack. Orange amber with a low white head. None of that peachy sweet US bollocks here; crisp hairy chlorophyll, curry leaf, dry rasping pine and tropical Starburst. Corking tropical aroma wafting with blackcurrant, lychee, guava and dried curry leaf. Classic Christmas sessions. BrewDog bang back on form, doing what they do best with aplomb. Delicious.

Bottle Pours clear blonde, touch of amber , rather small white head Smell is very intense hops , pine, typical brewdog . Taste is nice hops, some pine again . slightly malt notes . Very good, as usually when you drink a brewdog IIPA / IPA , but they have so many , that I start to fail to taste big differences in between them.. Very good though , just nothing to go out of your way off, when you can get Hardcore so much more easy .

Keg @ Brewdog Manchester. The pour’s deep amber with a small white head. The nose is big pine needle, resinous tree sap. Earthy conifer forest, like a punch to the face from the pacific northwest. Mild pineapple sweet aromas. The taste is sweet pineapple, papaya and melon tropical fruit salad. Some salted cheddar. Salty driftwood on the medium bitter finish. Nice vibrancy, lively on the palate. Overall, this is actually quite good. Nice.

Dec 2012 Cold bottle on Christmas day. Fizzy with a decent head. Lots of astringent bitterness with a bit of pineapple, but lots more grapefruit. A good pale ale in comparison to others I’ve had. Not very floral, which is good.

33cl bottle, batch #320 bbe 11-10-13. Ambere colored, lasting white head, nice lace. Perfumy aroma with some cats piss and piney grassy notes. Flavor has pine needles, herbs, more perfume and a hoppy bitter finish. House flavour. Enjoyable.
