Ruthless India Pale Ale

Start with a colossal grapefruit aroma. Pile on bitterness after thumping bitterness, and ride the anarchy wherever it takes you. The caramel razor is sharp, but the resinous bite drills straight through your taste buds.

For blitzing the mediocre, raising hell and revelling in the aftermath, Jack Hammer is the end of the line. The hopped-up, pucker-mouthed terminal extreme of craft brewing. This beer is bitter. Very bitter. If you push that button, dont say we didnt warn you

OG: 1069
IBUs: Hopped to 200+ theoretical IBUs
Malts: Extra Pale
Hops: Centennial & Columbus, dry hopped with Citra, Amarillo and Simcoe

330ml bottle. Pours hazy yellow with white head, good carbonation. Good aroma of grapefruit and pineapple. Taste of grapefruit, resinous hop, grass and slight caramel. End taste is clean bitter, dry spicy cracker bread and slight pepper. A more traditional styled american IPA that would work well with a spicy meal like a curry.

Visual: Pours marmalade orange with large suspended bits, a very small dissipating head, thin ringed retention with spotty islands, slow sporadic streams. Nose: super bright orange-grapefruit hop oils (lvl-6)-pungency Attack: thicker-crisp bite Mid-palate: orange-mango hop oils, controlled zingy alcohol detection, (lvl-6-sweetness), yellow grapefruit, grassy-green hop cones Finish: tongue numbness, toasty toffee barley malt aftertaste, long bitter hopped finish Summary: A really, really nice showcase of a quality IPA. Balanced sweet grapefruity malts with a superb smooth-thick mouthfeel, and the hops are bold yet never overbearing. I particularly like the re-emergence of the barley malt at the finish. Very round and profound. Recommended.

330 ml bottle from Wanstead Tap. Pours hazy golden with a short-lived white head. Hoppy aroma of citrus, blood orange, some peach and loads of hops. Taste starts fruity, ripe orange and quickly gives away to big hoppy bitterness. Average carbonation, long finish, surprisingly drinkable with all the 200 IBUs. Very good.

33cl bottle @ home. - Aroma: aromas of peach, mango, grapefruit and tropical fruits. - Appearance: good appearance. Light golden-straw color. Very light hazyness. Average head thickness. White head with good retention, made of quite big and irregular bubbles. Above average retention. Almost no Brussels lacing. - Taste: light sweetness, medium-to-high bitterness, a little bit of sourness (a citric touch). - Palate: light-to-medium body, watery-to-oily texture, average carbonation, very long dry finish of hop bitterness and some fruity flavors of peach, mango, grapefruit and tropical fruits. - Overall: good appearance and good aromas of tropical fruits. Very long dry finish of hop bitterness and fruity flavors (grapefruit, peach, mango). Quite drinkable despite its theoretical above 200 IBUs, which are very good balanced with the malt sweetness. But even with that good balance, it is too much bitterness for my taste. Good Beer.

S for sren. Her er der humlebitterhed nok til flere l. Farven er mrk gylden med en hvid skumkrone. Aromaen er citrus, fyr og harpiks. Smagen er ligesdan.

Pours clear, golden, medium brilliant white head. Aroma is pine resin. It is sort of bitter, but not as bitter as one might expect from the description. Medium-full body, a bit sticky on the finish.
