Ruthless India Pale Ale
Start with a colossal grapefruit aroma. Pile on bitterness after thumping bitterness, and ride the anarchy wherever it takes you. The caramel razor is sharp, but the resinous bite drills straight through your taste buds. For revelling in the mediocre, raising hell and reaping the commercial rewards, Jack Hammer is the end of the line. The hopped-up, pucker-mouthed terminal extreme of craft brewing. This beer is bitter. Very bitter. If you push that button, don’t say we didn’t warn you…
Ingredients: Extra Pale malt, Centennial & Columbus hops, dry hopped to 200+ theoretical IBUs with Citra, Amarillo and Simcoe.

Copenhagen 16/10 2016. 33 cl bottle from Fakta. Usual ubercool label design in green with the howling brewdog. Pours clear yellow with white head. Settles quickly as thin patchy layer of foam. Rich aroma dominated by bittersour grape fruit, lemon and citrus. Sweet exotic fruit in the background. Fills the room the moment you pour it. Fairly strong carbonation and slightly thick palate. Flavor has light sweetness followed by strong bitterness. Bitter aftertaste and dry finish. Perfect if you like it dry and bitter. The name "Jack Hammer seems to make sense.

Jack Hammer is a lovely aromatic IPA with coarse foam. Smells like passion fruit, orange peel and grapefruit. The taste is fresh hoppy the aforementioned fruits and there is only a little malt character with a hint of vanilla. It is a potent IPA which fills the IBU register with fruity notes and a long delicious bitter aftertaste where pine needles taste towards the end. Probably not an IPA for ’hopsphobians’ because it is brewed with Centennial and Columbus and since dry hopped with Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo. The Amarillo hop I have good experience with, because it often have grapefruit and citrus and gives an aftertaste that I find very satisfying. At first, it certainly seem bitter at a very significant and astringency way, but enjoyed slowly the Amarillo has some positive characteristics in the form of long aftertaste with exotic fruit and tart bitterness which is almost impossible to describe. I have to admit that I gone to be a big IPA enthusiast, even the high IBU values are starting to win the enthusiasm with me. Jack Hammer has certainly surprised me positively.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2016 Bottle. Pours clear golden with medium white head. Aroma is very hopy with notes of orange, grapefruit, passion fruit, spruce, raspberry yogurt and hints if vanilla. Taste is very bitter and light sweet. Body is oily with light fizzy carbonation. Finish is long and very bitter with notes of bitter dark chocolate, espresso, bitter grapefruit seeds and spruce. Very intense and well balanced.

Pours a chill hazed golden orange on tap with bubbly white head. Aroma of big resinous hops throughout, a hint of pale malt. Taste follows, huge galaxy hop notes with a hint of mosaic cattiness. Solid IPA.
