COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, occasional
Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

Bevuta il 16/02/2018 @Brewdog in Firenze. Alla spina. Nera. Poca schiuma evanescente. Al naso tropicale misto a agrumi. In bocca piacevole nota acidula agrumata accompagnata da note tropicali e leggermente tostate. Finale amarognolo e secco. Media carbonazione. Molto beverina.

A quick one at Brewdog Clerkenwell. A good looking beer in the glass and a small head. There wasn't much aroma, but it had been overly chilled. The flavour was well balanced between toasted malt and what I felt was a rather faint taste of hops. This was a slighty hopped and very pleasant porter/stout hybrid, but I wouldn't classify it as a black IPA.

Dark brown/black color, medium sized brown head. Aromas of tar pastilles, roasted hints, resin and dough. Roasted and medium bitter taste with tar pastilles, resin and pine. The taste of tar is odd.

simontomlinson (716) - Blackburn, Lancashire, ENGLAND - FEB 9, 2018
Frothy beige head stayed well on a near black, thick body. Big hoppy aroma of pine, rye & dark berries. Medium body, creamy on the palate with a soft finish. Sweet berries, dark sugar, cream & malt tastes with a bitter rye finish.

Bottled from Systembolaget Black with a small, beige head. Fruity, grassy aroma with some liquorice. Rather light body. Salty liquorice and wet grass. Medium bitterness.

A bit thin. Some hops and coffee notes. But no it ends with nothing special.

Turtles (3162) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 27, 2018
Keg @ Bishops Arms, Hornsgatan. Black with a lasting khaki head, good lacing. Big citrus hoppy aroma, grapefruit, overall citrus, toasted malts and hints of ash. Smooth medium bodied mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Taste is a bit more on the roasted side still a big citrus hoppy profile. Very drinkable.

Pours near black with a frothy tan head. Nose is mostly roasted malts and thus a bit of coffee, with a few shades of hop florals. Flavor is sharper with a good bit of hop bitterness and a little alcohol to balance with the dark malts. A little wayward but not bad.
