COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, occasional
Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

0,33 l bottle. Black in the glass, small beige head. Fresh clear floral hop on the nose. Starts hopy with licorice and coffee. Fruity hints with citrus in the middle part. Easy to drink, hidden alcohol but never watery.

Brune très foncée. Mousse marron claire relativement persistante, beau lacings.

Draught at BrewDog Camden on 23 Jun 2012. Poured a very dark ruby, with a thin, but dense beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, grapefruit and pine needles. Coffee in the flavour, with citrus hops and some berries. Full mouthfeel. Finish was burnt malt, lingering hop resin and burnt sugar.

One of my fave BIPA's. Solid malt dark chocolate blended with grapefruit, pine and hops. Great beer.

On bottle at Brew Bangkok. An intriguing combination of fruit and caramel on the nose. Definitely a big beer. Very dark, yet very drinkable. An excellent Black Ale from our Scottish friends.

[email protected] Clapham, London - hazy dark brown coloured pour with a beige/tan head. Aroma and taste is a mix of roasted malts and tropical fruits, prominent hoppy, grapefruit, pine, some coffee notes, good bitter finish. Great stuff.

Lots of resin, pine, some fruits and light coffee in aroma. Some caramel in there as well along with roasted sunflower. Pours black with big beige head, staying for a long time on top of the beer, leaving nice lacing. Taste is dry, bitter, complex with a great aftertaste of high quality coffee. Mixes great with resin. Overall it’s an excellent beer - love it.

Decent darker beer that fits its description well. The IPA nature is prominent, as well as the clear hoppy taste.
