Strong notes of choco, dried fruits, spices and rum, dark brown with no head, full body, flat and oily, a bit of honey with spices and choco again...explosive nose after six years.

Bottle with friends. Reddish black. Sweet, raisin, alcohol. Red berries, rum and raisin. Sweet and slightly sour.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Black, brief head. Peppery chocolaty rum aroma. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel with honey-ish stickyness. Toffee, chocolate and rum. Peppery warming finisgh. Mature and mellow by now, but also very sweet and a bit bold/unrefined.

ArOma is a bit too much rum but still pleasant. Taste is light sweetness, lightly bitterness and rum notes. Finish is light sticky sweet with alcohol burn. Enjoyable ba beer but no greatness.

(BrewDog / Lost Abbey Lost Dog) Bottle 330 ml at home, from a trade with Cuso a couple of years ago, thanks Imro! Served into a snifter, ABV 11.5%
Deep brown red colour on the body, dark brown foam forms as I pour the beer but it never stays on top.
Aroma of rum indeed, alcohol, liquorice, some chocolate notes.
Taste is more complex, again plenty of rum, sherry too, more chocolate now, alcohol, vanilla, wood, liquorice, roasted malts, mocha.
Medium thin body, I expected it thicker to be honest, good carbonation.

0.33l bottle from #176. Exciting. This is a a dark brown one with a really loud fizzing light milk-chocolate colored top that quickly fades. This is one of the loudest beers I’ve ever had I think - almost like a cider. Anyhow, it has an aroma of subtle chocolate, subtle roasted malts, rum indeed, dark wood, syrup and a little bit of coffee. I was expecting a punch in the face, but all I got was a sweet little slap. That meaning it’s not as extreme as I had hoped for, but it’s still by all means quite nice this. It’s light lively on the carbonation and the mouthfeel is oily. Sweet flavors loaded with rum! Really really present in this. Woody, slightly mouthdrying and salty as well. It’s roasted with traces of licorice, something really herbal and definitely smoky. It really has some character this beer, and it really sticks it’s neck out there in the imperial porter/stout genre. One of a kind with lot’s of flavor, but I’m still not completely sold. Have another bottle that I will leave alone for a long time. 01.02.2013

bottle @ home, cellared for 5 years. Dark brown, almost black with almost no head. Loads of dried vinous fruits in the aroma, also rum, caramel, oak, charcoal, sticky but warming alcohol, vanilla, dry peat, licroice. Mouth feel is medium, ie it’s quite flat considering the ABV yet there’s a sticky sensation on the tongue; but that’s from the somewhat disturbing higher alcohols rather than carbonation (which is low) and to some degree oxidation (so yes, i blame myself for cellaring too long) . Flavors of dried rasins, plums, oak (lots of it), rum, vanilla, licorice, charcoal and ash.

330 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a moderate sized tan head. Nice barely wine like aroma with malt, caramel, dry fruit, wood, some oxidation and warming alcohol. Flavor gives me the same barley wine feeling. Sweet dark malt, caramel, dry fruit, wood, warming alcohol and balanced bitterness with pleasant level of oxidation. Full bodied and smooth long lasting aftertaste. I have had a few of this one upon the years sins it was released, and previously felt it a bit raw, right know I find it perfect on top. It’s a shame it was my last bottle.
