We entrusted all the important decisions to our fans, customers and anyone who wanted to learn more about the craft brewing process and cast their vote. We gave up complete control of every single decision which shaped the final beer that the #MashTag project produced. #MashTag is a 7.5% American Brown Ale loaded with New Zealand hops and aged on Hazelnuts and Oak chips.

on tap at brewdog birmingham. great concept here and something i beleive they should continue trying. on this occassion its just a bit underwhelming. pours dark brown, smells of dirty hops and fresh bread. taste is smooth if a little thin. like a hazlenut latte. overall drinkable and would have again but i think the people could have chosen something better.

330 ml bottle, batch #114, from Vinmonopolet, found during an archeological excavation in my beer "cellar". BB date 20-05-14. ABV is 7.4%. Dark brown colour, small beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel, brown bread, hazelnuts and oak. Smooth mouthfeel. Pleasant flavour, malty and medium sweet, again with caramel, hazelnuts and oak, also hints of chocolate and fruity hops. Brown ales are not normally my favourite style, but I liked this one. It appeared to have survived cellaring in perfect nick.

Bottle - Reddish brown colour, medium sized beige head, good retention and lacing. Malty aromas, caramel, roasted nuts, red berries, some biscuit, earth and decent floral and fruity hops. Taste of caramel, cocoa, some toasted grains, red fruits, raisins. Mostly sweet but there is a significant hop bitterness in the end. I cant really sense the hazelnuts and oak chips. Anyway its a delicious, easy drinking brown ale.

Pierwsze demokratyczne Brown Ale. Wyglądało to imponująco! Zapach, ktry dotarł do mojego nosa składał się z wielu rżnych nut, z ktrych nie wszystkie potrafię wymienić. Czekolada przeplatała się z orzechami, gdzieś w tle owoce... No i smak - rewelacja! Orzechy wraz z czekoladą i karmelem towarzyszyły mi do ostatniego łyka. Choć zawartość alkoholu całkiem spora, wyczuć można go było jedynie poprzez przyjemne pieczenie w przełyku. Polecam, bardzo smaczne piwo!

Bottle from Rehills of Jesmond. Pours deep chestnut with a thin tan head. The taste is fairly rich with roasty flavour. Theres liquorice, nuts, chocolate and vinous notes. Mild spice too. Good beer.
