allmyvinyl (11319) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 26, 2014
330ml bottle courtesy of Craig, never thought I’d get to try this, cheers! Pours opaque brown, no head. Aromas are oxidised sherry and whisky. Taste is more of the same. Astringent booze finish.

Bottle. Deep ruby with off white head. Aroma is oxidised, sherry fruits. Taste is a little harsh, sherry, dried fruit and toffee, biscuit. Sweet and tangy. Ok

Bottle at home, thanks to Kenny! BrewDog #199. Promisingly opens with a soft hiss... It pours deep brown with an orange hue and small tan head. The nose is initially lightly musty (although this dissipates with time), then plum, caramel, prune, date, spice, wood, slight oxidation, marmalade and stewed orange. The taste is raisin, orange peel, kumquat, peach, plum, prune, wood, varnish, earth, resin, nice bitterness, good alcohol kick, peppery notes, with a dry, warming finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Interesting, well rounded and good depth of flavour. Rather nice.

Bottle from Corvallis Brew Supply. 2009 bottling. Aroma is rich, full and roasty. Definitely notes of oak and booze, some Scotch as well. Body is full, dull and heavy. Very boozy, finish round and smooth. Aging was a good call on this one.

A super malty ale with a strong whiskey finish. Smells super malty and has a slight hoppy taste. Not very bitter ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Fairly good looking beer, nothing really in terms of head unfortunately. What was there disappeared fast but of course the density of the beer and the alcohol content explain this sufficiently. Nose is a little disappointing for a beer of this complexity - it’s all in the taste really which doesn’t disappoint. It’s multilayered in a pleasing way and is something that quite a few brewdog beers fail to achieve! Sweet dark toffee, caramel and really nice latte notes which are subtle enough so as not to dominate. Velvety texture is sliced through with warm alcohol and then relatively clean grapefruity, hoppy bitterness.

2009 vintage, bottle. Okay it smells not so good, like mushy cardboard, but it tastes dandy, a nice warming bottle with hints of whiskey and nice sweetness balanced by alcohol heat, in the dead of winter this would be a treat.

ClubGonzo (5683) - Bergen, NORWAY - AUG 11, 2013
Bottle, shared with Bergen Beer Geek Tasting Crew. Pours a slightly hazy deep brown body with a tiny off-white head. Nose is deep caramel, syrup, whisky, molasses, butterscotch and hints of raisins and sweet malts. Taste is booze, whisky, molasses, burnt sugar, caramel, cream, hints of raisins, wood and smoke. Smooth, full body and soft carbonation. Majestic stuff. A truly great sipper, and a beer wish I had a couple of cases of, so I could age it and enjoy it on a regular basis.

Beergeek23322 (2602) - Chester, Virginia, USA - JUL 13, 2013
August 2010. From bottle. Dark amber color with a shortlived white ehad. Aromas of caramel, roasted malt, grass, hay and flowers. Flavors of dark fruit, caramel, alcohol and malt. Not bad at all.
