Bottle. Pours hazy copper with a small white head that Is mostly lacing. The aroma Is boozy with some big caramel. The taste is on the sweet caramel flavor with minimal booze.

I got an 2009. The flavor started off strong. Almost seemed like it would be overwhelming. But then the malts took over. It smoothed out by the third sip.. As its a few years old the hops had simmered down now. The pour was dark, with a lil bit o head that sent lines down into the glass. One of the better BWs ive had.

Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 11, 2012
In short: A straightforward sweet malt bomb (sugary crunchy caramel and toffee) with a nice balance. Unexpectedly drinkable. Nice.
How: Bottle 330ml. Consumed when a little over 2 years after bottling (bottled 07/08/09)
The look: Cloudy brown-burgundy body topped by a small beige head leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: Nose is very sweet malts (sugar pie smell) with a surprising good amount of hops that come through as tobacco leafs with wooden notes. Taste is a whole lot of big crunchy malts with crunch caramel and crunchy toffee along with a pastry sensation. No fruity flavors here or anything like that, basically this beer tastes like a commercial sugar pie in-a-box from the grocery store. The malt bill is simple but pleasant, and the hoppy finish does provide some kind of balance. No alcohol presence whatsoever. This is usually really not my type of beer, but it is so surprisingly drinkable that at the end I thought it was rather enjoyable. And drinking beer like I do should be considered an art, because in the morning if you look at all the empties scattered around my living room it is actually an artistic display about hopelessness and confusion.

Pours a copper/amber color with an off-white head. Nose is somewhat oxidized, but still plenty of sweet sugar and malt aromas. Toffee, caramel, brown sugar, and a hint of dark fruit. Light smoke/peat notes, maybe a hint of fruit and alcohol. The flavor is sweet and lightly boozy. Caramel, toffee, and a bit of brown sugar. Light peatiness, some oak, and a hint of cardboard. Not as good as the newer version.

Bottle shared by durwoodx. Thanks Darrell! This barleywine is hazy and brownish orange in color. There is approximately an inch of head that generates a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is clearly that of barleywine, with scents of alcohol, sweet malt and caramels. The tastes follows suit. The beer lacks the complexity that can make a beer of this genre intriguing and irresistible. The body is a bit thinner than I would prefer, with a solid carbonation level. Overall, a decent beer and worth a try if you are a fan of the style. Ideal for sharing, as it’s definitely best enjoyed in small quantities. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-13-2010

rbrazell (1763) - Florida, USA - JUL 7, 2012
Thanks Tim and Rachel! Deep orange pour with a white head. Aroma of whiskey, sugar malts, light fruits. Flavor is similar once again with these beers with touch of iodine. Not bad at all.

33 cl bottle @ Pikkulintu. Batch 243: bottled 07.05.2009, no BBE info
Aroma is heavy and sweet with ripe fruits, some strawberries, woody notes, hints of harsh malt and sourness. Flavour is sweet with malt, some ripe fruits, woody notes and hints of berries. At the beginning whisky stings a little but it turns into smoky towards the finish.

Beerheart65 (1503) - Pori, FINLAND - JUN 24, 2012
