An epic fusion of age old Belgian tradition, American new wave brewing and the world of Scotch whisky.
Mix Tape 8 is a blend of two huge oak aged beers – half a hopped up Belgian Tripel, and half a Triple India Pale Ale. These beers have both been aged in single grain whisky barrels for close to two years and finally blended to create a beer that our head brewer Stewart Bowman can most helpfully describe as ‘fucking complex’.
Mix Tape 8 is a high octane blend of styles, influences and processes. This beer is a blend of 2 huge oak aged India Pale Ales. Half of this beer is rooted in an amped up, hopped up Belgian Tripel which has been aged in Scotch Whisky casks for almost 2 years. The other half of the equation is a triple India Pale Ale which has also been aged in Scotch Whisky barrels for close to 2 years. This beer is inspired by the Belgian Monastic brewing tradition and its centuries of heritage, the hopped up American new wave craft brewing and everything that rocks about Scotch Whisky barrels and oak aging.

Amazing and unbelievable! Sweet rich aroma hits the nose immediately after opening the bottle. In the taste of sweetness, bitterness, grapes, fruit, wine and liquor. Very powerful and rich. Brilliant drink!

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2017 Aromat: przepiękne nuty słodowe, cherry, toffi, karmelu, w połączeniu z świetnym aromatem chmielu, nutami belgijskimi (rodzynki, suszone śliwki), zwieńczone nutami beczkowymi (wanilia, drewno, tytoń, whisky) Miazga Wygląd: idealnie klarowne, ciemno-bursztynowe Smak: mocarna słodowa baza, przypominająca najlepsze barley wine, nuty suszony przejrzałych owoców, tytoniowo-alkoholowe grzanie, świetna, bardzo wysoka goryczka kontrująca wszystko. Niskie wysycenie, mnóstwo aromatów beczkowych (wanilia, cherry, drewno), lekka Belgia w tle. Zmiażdżyło mnie, jedno z najlepszych piw jakie dane mi było wypić.

Bottle from Voldby, shared with Niller - dark amber pour with a lazing off-white head. Aroma and taste is big heavy sweet malty, with caramel, toffee, dark dried fruits, some moderate spice throughout. Quite a bad boy this, and really enjoyed it.

Bottle from Voldby. Pours dark brown/reddish with an off-white head. Sweet taste of malts, caramel, bourbon, alcohol, some berries. Full body. Good creamy mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Very rich and complex beer. Nice warming finish. Gorgeous.

Strong aromas of dark fruits. Raisins and plums. Can probably agree that the taste is the same. Even strong too. Incredibly heavy bitterness in the aftertaste that fills the mouth for a long while. I did not feel of any alcohol the beer has such a high alcohol percentage. Good beer but one should perhaps share this with anyone. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Aroma: bourbon, intense caramel malts, toffee apple, pine. Appearance: clear brown, small, creamy, beige head. Taste: heavy sweet. Palate: alcohol, initially overpowering sweets continue, sticky jam, sugar syrup, overripe fruits, getting dry in the finish. Overall: very intense, excellent complexity and depth. Bottle from BrewDog, Clapham Junction.

0,33 l bottle roasty, caramel, herbs, woody, whisky, black, hazy, minimal head, brown foam, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, full body, oily feel, sticky, soft carbonation, long finish, very complex beer

fkoolen (1403) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - FEB 10, 2015
Bottle at home, nice artwork. Clear dark amber colour, beige foamy head that quickly slims down. Rich and complex aroma and taste (wow!), big on sweet caramel, molasses, candied sugar, honey and red dessert/porto wine tones, dried fruits like raisins and plums, vanilla, cask notes and some nice whiskey tones, boozy burn and bitterness, extra boosted by the resinous hops. Long boozy and sweet finish, light anice and liquorice. Great balance in flavours. Low carbonation, soft mouthfeel, almost sticky oily, full body. Amazing ale, qualifies as a barley wine imo.
