COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
And this time it is all about the beer, and the beer is awesome! Gone are the 200+ IBUs which brought grown men to tears! Our new Nanny State is 0.5% ABV and focuses on being a great drink as opposed to a great publicity ploy. This beer is now focussed on getting all that is good about BrewDog into a practically alcohol free format. It is a West Coast inspired pale ale with a difference!

The beer has 45 IBUS and is brewed with centennial, amarillo, columbus, cascade and simcoe and intensively dry-hopped with centennial and amarillo. The backbone is provided by 8 different types of speciality malts with only 87 kilos of malt used in a 20HL batch (our Punk IPA uses 450 kilos in 20HL).

Heavy hoppy. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, grass, floral, fruity. Dry and bitter finish. A descent one compared to the low ABV.

These no alky beers are just tix. Can, light & refreshing. Surprised about the %. So this is what hop soda is all about? Better than the typical IPA fer sher. Cutting carbonation, fun to drink if not medium hop bitter. Makes think that if IPA tasted like this, I just may like it. Hop pop. Goes down way too easy, has many similarities to common soda water. Smell is a little hoppy dude.

Looks like a ruby ale to me, medium dark and red. Smells malty on the nose, but as soon as you drink it, it is all hops. I think they've thrown the kitchen sink of hops at this to prove that a low-alcohol beer doesn't need to taste weak--but maybe they've overdone it, because to me the result is a wall of bitterness that's too dense and dull, with little refinement--a bit like when you try to mix too many paint colours and just end up with grey or brown. Maybe too this many hops don't work so well when unaccompanied by alcohol, which adds something to hoppy beers. Despite all the different malts used here, they are drowned out by the crude hops taste for me. It's a very worthy production; but as low-alcohol beers go, my choice would still be Adnams Sole Star.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2018 Bottle from Tesco. Rating this as a beer is pretty meaningless, but, if I’m going to drink an alcohol free beer, this is it. Reddish brown with foamy, off-white head. Rich, plummy aroma. Heavily carbonated, like soda water, thirst quenching, sharp, floral. Drinkable but there’s something missing!

Very good for low alcohol beer. Nice smell and taste, hoppy, bitter ending. There is a ‘sparkling water’ moment somewhere in the sip, but it only makes a brief appearance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, via Beer Hawk for Ben. Deep amber colour, heading towards copper. White foam. Big west coast hop aroma, pine and citrus. Hops dominate, bitter finish, body feels ok. I'd definitely have one of these again.

Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een amberkleurig bier met een volle schuimkraag. Het heeft een hoppige geur. De smaak is zacht hoppig en een beetje waterig. Wel erg lekker als haast alcohol vrij bier.
