Nanny State is mild imperial ale containing more hops per barrel than any other beer ever brewed in the UK. It is an extraordinary little ale jammed full of all the brewer’s favourite hops giving it as much body and mouthy feel as possible, ensuring that low strength does not translate into reduced flavour. Nanny State, takes the low ABV hop-bomb concept to the next level and is so low in alcohol it is below the legal classification of beer and not strong enough to be subject to beer duty. We believe we have created a new beer category - The Imperial Mild - with Nanny State and How to Disappear Completely.

Amber nice foam, but very thin and the beer is dry with a bitter aftertaste :-)

Very beautiful foaming beer which the brewery describes as an Imperial Mild. It has a lovely aroma of citrus and flower. All aroma comes obviously from the hops and it smells very inviting. The taste is very hoppy right from the start. It also has a IBU at 225, so it was not really expected. Towards the end we meet a little caramel, but quickly takes over its bitter hop taste buds again. It may not have much Mild ale over it, and it is probably only an approximate type of beer it has been awarded. It is BrewDogs affront to British politicians on top of their criticism of BrewDogs Tokyo (Imperial Stout at 18.2%).

Bottle @ home. Opaque, pretty dark brown color, medium to full sized light brown head. Well, I wasn’t expecting this! Wasn’t the 0.5% version golden? Anyway...Aroma is malts, roast and quite some fruity hoppyness. Taste malts, roasted malts, pretty strong roast, coffee, hops and bitterness. Decent body and medium carbonation. Wow, how on earth did they manage to get such a full flavor in a beer of only 1.1% ABV? Very well done! I think I might actually prefer this one over the 0.5% version.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours golden, surprising how much flavour is here, bitter and fruity, just a little thin. Much better than the newer 0.5% version

Leicht trübes dunkelgoldenes Bier mit ordentlicher Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr hopfig, malzig. Geschmack sehr bitter hopfig, Karamell, reife Früchte.

Thanks to Roman for this old bottle. Smooth and bitter, hints of maltyness, a bit dry. Not as bitter as 5years ago. Interesting, but not much flavour.

Pours dark amber. Ridiculous color for such a low alvohol beer. Nose is insane amounts of grass, hay, some ripr fruit, mud. Taste is very nice at first, with peach, hay, grass, soil, banana. However, it stops abruptly, with the taste falling absolutely flat due to the non-existing alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

My first experience that low alcohol beer can be good after all. Largely thanks to the enormous amounts of hops they added. Nevetheless, some more alcohol would make this beer better.
