Shared 33cl bottle with a friend. Poured pitch Black with a Nice lasting mocha coloured head. Thick lacing on the glass, Lot’s of sweet baker chocolate, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, marsepin, roasted malts, coffee, alcohol warmth, smooth mouthfeel, very thick mouthfeel. The first Great brewdog beer for me. But it’s Way overpriced for a non BA beer

15,2% version, aged for about a year. Black beer, tan head. Nose is raisins, cocoa, sweetness, coffee, alcohol, soy sauce. Flavor is complex and deep with dried fruit and raisins, coffee, hops, rum, alcohol, wood. Thick roasty-malty-coffee finish. Dense and complex.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2015 -15,2%. Tasted in the city of gold, Johannesburg- pours pitch black with little reddish head. Huge aroma of dark fruits, roasted, burnt, coffee, port wine, vanilla, chocolate and some alcohol. Very fruity, vinous and burning palate. Aftertaste is port wine, cherry, dark fruit, burnt, vanilla, oak and some alcohol. Lingering dry chocolate and fruity alcohol finish. Nice alcohol burn in the stomach. Overall: wow. What a nice beer. The aroma could be a little more in your face, but this small problem compensates by a wonderful mix of dark fruity port notes and roasted malt. After a long time without a nice imperial stout, it poured directly into my hearth.

As 15,2 %, bottle from Edinburgh. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma of solid roasty maltiness, licorice, vanilla and a touch of whiskey. Taste is rich, long and complex; it moves gracefully from initial sweetness to drier roastiness and a late dry, bitter finish. This is slow and potent stuff, has to be sipped slowly. A full body with a nearly flat carbonation. A great strong Imperial Stout.

Abv 15,2 %. Aroma of roasted malts, molasses, dried red fruits, coffee, peat, dark chocolate. Flavour is very roasty, peaty, more coffee and dark chocolate, medium to heavy sweetness, some alcohol warmth. Very tasty Imperial Stout, I enjoyed this much better than BrewDog’s ’regular’ Tokyo* Imperial Stout.

Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - JUN 9, 2014
Bottle. Black pour, thin tan head. Aroma has loads of coffee, roasted malts, licorice, chocolate, molasses, soy sauce and some alcohol. The flavor is quite sweet caramel sugars up front with more roasted bitterness in the finish. Leaves an alcoholic warning glow that lingers. I am a bit of a sucker for these thick black stouts, and this one definitely delivers.
