Bottle at home shared with our moobs. Poured a black colour with a dark brown head. Aroma has lots of wow, dark chocolate, soy sauce and Chinese food, coffee, vanilla, smoke. Flavour some sweetness and alcohol but not overpowering, coffee, chocolate, aniseed. Some warmth from the alcohol in the finish. Totally up my street, loved it. Flavor is malts, salt licorice, brown sugar, wood, raisins, alcohol. Full body, flat carbonation, quite bitter finish with alot of alcohol. 190414 VictorStr (1740) - Helsingborg, SWEDEN - APR 25, 2014
Lätt kolsyrad, tjock i kroppen. Vinous aroma of cocoa, liquorice, oak, malt & sweet caramel. Black with small brown head. Taste of dark chocolate & salty liquorice. Perfect bitter sweet mix. Medium body, oily texture & low carbonation. volksygge (56) - NORWAY - APR 16, 2014
Eye: pitch black, small unstable head, strong lacing though
Nose: roasted malts, coffee, alcohol, some wood, some raisins, smoke(?)
Mouth: molasses, coffee, vanilla hits nose from the back, alcohol, slightly umami, sticky, low on carbo, heavy
Palate: Big, low carbonation, sticky.
A very good example of my favourite style. Heavy, complex, alcoholic. You love it or hate it. I choose the first option.

@Nedre Mölla 2/4-14. Flaska från Systembolaget. Arom: Mörk choklad, rostad malt, lite rökig. Smak: Mörk choklad, sötma, nötig, rostad malt. Munkänslan är fyllig, hyfsat oljig konsistens och lång avslutning, även alkoholvärmande. jbeatty (1256) - New York, USA - MAR 24, 2014
Bottle, 03/24/2014. Pours black, thin dark tan head swirls and fades to a few wisps on the surface, thin ring of lacing. Aroma is lightly peated, soy sauce, caramel with melted chocolate, thick char roast, smooth ground coffee, sweeter raisin near the finish, dusty tobacco. Taste is sweet chocolate, dark fruits, yet balanced by licorice, smooth bitter roast and coffee. Thick body liqueur-like, touch of booze yet surprisingly smooth, well balanced for a brew this size. Well done. john_chaney (21) - - MAR 17, 2014
Poured from a 330ml bottle into a oversized wine goblet. Poured jet black with zero head. Very few very tiny bubbles so no lacing. Aroma is smoked peat, dark chocolate, and alcohol. Taste is coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, smoked malts, sweet caramel, alcohol, finishes with a bit of bitterness. This is a complex beer and at 16% it’s a sipper. That’s good because it takes all those small trips across the pallate to really appreciate just how complex and flavorful this beer is. I’ve had a good bit of Tokio, and I’ve tried Black, I’ve never had Dark Horizon. I like Tokio and would put it beside DogFishHead WorldWide Stout, a solid go to beer if you’re looking for a high abv stout and you’ve got some extra cash laying about. Pricey, but, kind of worth it. This beer is better than Tokio alone, but, just a little. Black Tokyo Horizon is Tokyo after finishing school. Mad_Ferret (1024) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 16, 2014
Draft @ Mikkeller Bar Sthlm opening.hackobock (4073) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 16, 2014
App: Pitch black, viscous, dark brown dissipating head.
Aroma: Sweet roasted with molasses, dark chocolate, sweetened black coffee, wood, some vanilla maybe.
Taste: It’s as syrupy sweet and intensely roasted as I remember it. Molasses, coffee and dark chocolate with some alcohol warmth dominates.
Palate: Big, low carbonation, sticky.
Overall: If you like it sweet it’s a pretty nice one, and the alcohol isn’t too overpowering really. Compared to some other big stouts it might get a bit shallow though.
