Bottle shared during the inaugural Richmond tasting - big thanks to Daniel! Pours deep black-brown with a creamy, tan head.torched wood in the nose, some sweet chocolate, scorched earth. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with hearty brownies, baking cocoa, strong roast, more scorched earth. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish, sticky sweet, with lots of sugary chocolate, moderate booze, dark fruits, raisins. Great stuff overall. Very drinkable for the strength. kokkenrolv (348) - Bergen, NORWAY - FEB 2, 2016

Bottle, shared at the Earth Eagle. This does justice to all three of its constituent parts -- it’s huge, dark, roasty, almost syrupy, and it packs a mighty punch. Impressively, though, it’s blended together well and it stands as a really good beastly stout in its own right.

Bottle: Chouffe glass:
Black beer with a very quick disappearing dark brown head.
Aroma is stinky: cardboard, sweat, soy, liquorice, manure, paper...
Flavour is soy with brown sugars, bitters, spice, liquorice, roast, bah leaf, cardboard and coal tints...
Aftertaste is soy with brown sugars, sweets, bitters and spices...
Low carbo, close to silky oily mouthfeel with a spicy/alcohol touch and full bodied.
Strange but not bad...

This really isn’t fair - comparing this massive IS resulting from three of the best ISs coming out of Europe to other regular production beers. The price is out of this world as well. But that said, this is a great brewing accomplishment, which isn’t always the case with "All Star" products like this one. The nose has more elements than any I have tested before - Tar, liquorice, roasted malt, Cream, and burnt butter on top of some earthy hops. Those nose elements follow through into the taste profile, complimented by bittering hops with tropical fruit, Cocao nibs, coffee, roasted caramel, dark berries and molasses. A rich, oily, viscous body coats the mouth with alcohol warmth. Delicious. sjogro (4263) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - DEC 5, 2015
Kraambezoek voor Roza tasting. Enorme dijk aan koffie en bourbon, alcoholisch als de pest maar soms vergeet je het en merk je het niet. Brand wel bijna door je tong heen. Backlog from 2015/02/09.
