Bottlle in Pennsylvania. Dark black body with tan head. Nose is malty, caramel, wheat, chocolate. Taste is chocolate and carame and toasty. Really nice and creamy texture.

While this one is the least complex of the three, it’s still incredibly tasty. Has a bit of warmth in the finish. All the flavors are dominated by the sweet. Could easily sip on a couple of these. Thanks again to John for his generosity in his gift of this to me!

Bottle from Wholefoods Market Kensington. I’ve had this about 2 or 3 years. Pour’s incredible, inky black, thick and oily. Probably thickest pour I’ve seen on a non-vintage beer. Very dark brown to black opaque in the glass, very thin brown tan head which dissipates to nothing almost immediately. Nose is sweet black treacle, savoury Marmite/yeast extract, molasses, aged wood barrel, sherry, port, black sugar, roasted dark malts. Sweet fortified beer, slight oxidisation, dark fruits, prune, raisins, dried fig. Taste is pretty damn good. Dark fruity prune, dried fig, raisins and sultanas, sherry, tangy dried fruit, sultanas and raisins, Christmas cake, plum pudding, roasted dark malts. The hops and dark malt is giving this a huge dried fruit profile. Sweet, tangy, little dryness with the sweetness. Wish I’d kept this for Christmas! It’s great to have a big flavoured stout which has balance too.

Great monster of a beer, it’s a night in all by itself! Intense imperial stout with loads of deep, dark and sweet flavours!

Taste from a from a bottle @ a friend’s place. Pours extremely dark brown with no head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts, port vine, chocolate, coffee, alcohol and perfume. Flavor is sweet roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, liquorice, alcohol, hops, you name it. Very sweet at first but full of ash and tar in the finish. Just sublime.

Rated based on notes taken 28 June 2014 -- An imposing beer. As mysterious looking as it is delicious. It did me in.

330ml bottle, batch 057, stored in my cellar for a few years, bought at Ølbutikken in Copenhagen in November 2011. The noisy pour reveals a rapidly dissipating brown head. Minimal lacing. Deep black body. Rich aromas of dark chocolate, wood, and dark bread. Comprehensive and well blended flavours of black malts, bitter dark fruits, molasses, coffee, biscuit and integrated alcohol warming down the swallow. Lingering aftertaste. Full bodied and velvety texture. Wonderful. Sipper par excellence (summer holiday celebration, Tromsø 31.07.2015).

Bottle. Pours inky black with little head or lacing. Aroma is lots of anise, molasses, licorice, chocolate, booze. Flavor is medium sweet and fully bitter, lots of roast, cocoa, molasses, licorice and booziness. Hot. Fullish body, creamy mouthfeel. Hot
